We know that Beniers and Bordeleau will be the top 2 centers. It's now a matter of who are their wingers. I would say it's most important when creating combinations those combinations to play the two Chicago Steel guys together, and I don't see how you can play them with Bordeleau. That line is too small. Put Beniers in the middle. Bordeleau can play with the two other two wingers. I wouldn't mind Boucher in the top six. I want him on the team, but it may be a little too high in the lineup for now. Knies has to be there, in my opinion. I like him better than Tuch. Lucius and Pastujov should play together, and Smilanic can bring the grit and skating to that line. Fourth line is starting to round out nicely. Berard and Slaggert return, and Doan should be a really good energy forward for this team. I'd have Broz as the 13th forward because he's versatile. He can play anywhere in the lineup or any role.
Defense seems pretty decided. I just don't see much chance the top two pairs aren't the top two pairs from the 2002 NTDP age group. That defense was really good. Kaiser and Hughes for the bottom pairing, but my main change for now is that I could see Peart earning a spot ahead of Behrens for the 7th defenseman role.
Goalies are where it gets harder to pick. Commessso will be the starter, but the other options are pretty weak. I guess Tynan is the best alternative, but I hope he's not needed. I'd bring along Silverstein for the 3rd goalie role. The third goalie should be someone who'll be around the following year, and despite Silverstein being a year younger than Mbereko, I think he's the better goalie. He'll show it to begin this season, if he's healthy, and I think he should make a late push to make this team.
