Maybe, but I’m not personally convinced with his defensive play. If he is in the team he has to have an offensive role, because playing defence is not his strength. I’m not sure though if he will be even offensively good enough to play in the top lines, as there are probably at least 6 offensively better players than him. I’m not ruling it completely out that he couldn’t be in the team, but I personally don’t see it very likely, unless there are some injured forwards before the tournament.I think Elias Koponen should have a spot. 19 points in 38 Liiga games speaks for itself.
This is a joke correct? So, if Finland wins this tournament they should be considered as the best nation in the world 2022 without any hesitations.
So, let´s start the hype already
Give me your best, updated roster and if you have the energy and will, explain why. Strengths and weaknesses. Let´s get it!
No way... And to add the possible new Finnish Stanley Cup winner the party just continues. 75% of a chance as there are Rantanen, Lehkonen (and Annunen) in Colorado, Puljujärvi, Koskinen (and Niemeläinen) in Edmonton plus Kakko (and Pajuniemi) in New York roster. Tampa Bay has no Finnish guys...This is a joke correct?
Is it possible that Blomqvist is doing military service?Pennanen really hates Blomqvist huh
Is it possible that Blomqvist is doing military service?
ok. I don't often say this, but WTF?![]()
So Pennanen didn't pick Blomqvist since he thinks he is too focused on his NHL career(missed some 4 nations tournament after he went to AHL) honestly wtf?
Blomqvist was supposed to go to that 4 nations tournament, but he informed Pennanen the night before their departure that he's not coming. So basically Pennanen was half asleep already and getting ready for the coming tournament and Blomqvist says that he's not coming. So it's not about being "too focused on his NHL career"![]()

Too old.Hopefully Blomqvist plays on the other U20 tournament this December then, but it does suck that we'll miss one good player in this summer's tournament who would normally be there when we are aiming to win the gold. Canada is the biggest favorite and we shouldn't give them any favors like this.

Correct decision based on that information and we don't know what else is behind that decision.
Pennanen is one of the best coaches in Europe, he also has coaching stuff around him and they work as a team. His coaching philosophy is based around team spirit, just like Jalonen's.Lol what? So he is supposed to say to Penguins that he is not coming since he promised to play a couple of meningless games? How would that look to his future team? Not very good I think.
I'd understand the decision if we'd have someone better but Blomma is clearly the best goalie we have and it's not even close. Pennanen needs to get over it.
Fact is Blomqvist is clearly best goalie available + probably one of the best in tournament if not the best. I don't really think that team values count as much on goalies who are individuals in team. There is probably more than we know but now this look like Pennanen being childish and arrogant.Pennanen is one of the best coaches in Europe, he also has coaching stuff around him and they work as a team. So if he leaves him out, there's a reason. You and i are basing our opinions to couple of news articles.
The other goaltenders on that missed 4 nations tournament were Juha Jatkola and Jami Pasanen. Jatkola played 2 games and Pasanen played 1 game. It seems that Jatkola is higher on team Finland's depth chart than Blomqvist (for some reason), but Blomqvist should still clearly be ahead of Pasanen, so I'm predicting that Blomqvist would have played 1 game in that tournament. Was the coach even gonna play him? Didn’t start games 1 or 2 in December.. unless the plan was to go with him in game 3 while he’s ice cold and when the opponent gets more difficult?
Probably better off playing 1 game in the AHL than zero in a junior tournament.
