I hate to pile on the kid but he basically does nothing out there.Desnoyers.

I agree that Johnson has been the weak link on the PP so far this tournament. His overall game has been pretty mediocre so far.I agree about Bedard. It’s hard to say how he should best be utilized on the PP. He likes to glide in off the right point to get that wicked wrister away, which is a system used by no powerplay ever. I feel a good right handed shooter should be on the left boards for a one-timer, but he doesn’t seem to like his slapshot nearly as much so that doesn’t really work either. I don’t know what the answer is, yet I definitely DO want him out there. They just have to keep tinkering and hopefully they figure it out.
Johnson is probably more of a concern for me on the PP. Maybe he’ll have more confidence in his game after that nifty lacrosse goal.
It's a high standard to try to project this to the NHL. Most of the draft picks at this tournament will not be successful NHL'ers. Scoring a lot of points in the Q is something many do. Desnoyers defense hasn't been too good either, which is supposed to be one of his strengths for this team.I hate to pile on the kid but he basically does nothing out there.
Even watching Desnoyer skate is mildly painful for me, he doesn't get to the plays and when a play happens to run into him he does nothing with it defensively or offensively. It's a high standard to try to project this to the NHL. I'm very hard and realistic on these Ranger kids also, so Cuylle's play hasn't been good enough either to me. Stupid play with the knee. Unfortunately, we've now had three of these kids kicked out of games at this tournament due to these plays, and one of them was friendly fire. This one was probably the least stupid. He didn't exactly line the Finnish player up for a long time to knee him. Just a little slow to make a play on the puck or make a hit, and stuck out his knee because of it. Cuylle's skating still needs to improve, and you could see it with that play. If he's a step quicker, that play may look different. I feel like he at least has a use and a role at this tournament and projecting to the NHL. He just hasn't been at his best. He's a grinder who can hit, win puck battles in the corners, go to the net, and has a long history of scoring goals. I'm not sure he has the skating, playmaking, or puck skills to project as more than a 3LW. I would say his ceiling is 2LW, floor is 4LW, and most likely projection is 3LW.
Is Riley Kidney healthy? We have expanded rosters this year, so we can scratch a player that isn’t performing and get Kidney in the lineup.Even watching Desnoyer skate is mildly painful for me, he doesn't get to the plays and when a play happens to run into him he does nothing with it defensively or offensively.
He's a guy to fill a roster spot so far, it was the same thing last December. Not sure what it is they see in him. Hope he shows me something, anything, soon
Not sure if already discussed. Kind of late to bring this up now...
But is there a reason some names are off the roster. For example Wyatt Johnston, Ceulemans, Clarke. Just didnt make the final cut? Or didnt even try out?
Wyatt Johnston wasn't interested. The other two were cuts I believe. Not sure if already discussed. Kind of late to bring this up now...

He's healthy as far as I know.Is Riley Kidney healthy? We have expanded rosters this year, so we can scratch a player that isn’t performing and get Kidney in the lineup.
Although, I took Desnoyers in one of my pools so maybe leave him in and I can hope a puck just hits him and deflects in by accident or something.![]()

I miss having hockey, today. I'll miss it even more in a week when it's over.
To all the IIHF / Hockey Canada people who put this tournament on...
Thank you. It made summer even better.

The inability of players to use a backhand is noticeable. After the Round Robin, it's hard not to feel great about this team...
* The offense has been spectacular - comes in waves and never stops.
* The D has been terrific but not flawless - clear the flipping puck!!!
* The goaltending has been SOLID - best in the tournament.
To lose 13(?)+ players, something that would cripple any other country, and still be the best team in the tournament makes me proud - and, to know the NEXT DRAFT CLASS IS EVEN BETTER, well, that's just icing on the cake.
Of course, anything can happen but, if I had to bet my last $100, I'd bet on Team Canada winning Gold.
Bravo young Canadian hockey players and Hockey Canada.
Ceulemans looked horrendous in camp so not a surprise they left him off, like bad enough that winter is questionable too.Not sure if already discussed. Kind of late to bring this up now...

This years Tyler steenbergenI hate to pile on the kid but he basically does nothing out there.
Well let's hope he closes out like Steebergen did. This years Tyler steenbergen
It’s pretty clear from our last game that we have our checking line and Desnoyers isn’t on it. He’s supposed to be a top nine offensive guy, but it’s just not working out at the moment. I would give Kidney a try in the next game. Not sure if Kidney can be effective in a 4th liner type role. Figured he's there more as insurance for injury to a C in top 9/offensive help.
There is always (some)one.Thanking Hockey Canada is certainly a take...
I agree. I worry it will eventually come back to haunt us - when teams have a chance to clear the zone and fail, all too often it ends up in their net.The inability of players to use a backhand is noticeable.

I just hope that one day Corson Ceulemans gets to play with Karson Kuhlman. Really mess up the play-by-play guy.I hope they evaluate Ceulemans based on his college games instead. Scrimmages are not as informative.
Nothing worse than the old Pens line of Schinkel, Shack and Shock.I just hope that one day Corson Ceulemans gets to play with Karson Kuhlman. Really mess up the play-by-play guy.![]()
