Kind of want to see Greig with Bedard and McTavish. Just for maximum jimmy rustling. Like how Bedard handled himself against the Slovaks in that regard. Always interesting to see how a smaller player responds to that kind of attention. Marchand is a very gifted and talented player but that master pest thing he does just gives him a whole other dimension. Briere was another small dude that just pissed people off. Fleury and Verbeek masters at it. Bedard not shying away as an underager is what I like to see.

Not a Putin sympathizer whatsoever but I would have really enjoyed a Bedard v Michkov matchup. Hopefully we'll get to see it in the future. Sid vs OV Pittsburgh vs Washington should be regarded as one of the NHL's all time rivalries. A couple very special players. Michkov was easily the best player on Team Russia last time I watched him and Bedard has a good argument for the Canadians as well.

For those saying it's not fair to not invite Russia, get over it. The World ain't fair. How fair is it that hundreds of thousands of Ukranians have been displaced or died defending their homeland? Or even for the Russian soldiers wounded fighting this bunk ass pointless aggression. The IIHF has got a lot of things wrong over the years but I don't think disqualifying this tyrant is one of them.

Without going into the conflict débate, Michkov vs Edvinsson was a fascinating matchup in December. Two best players on the ice against each other every shift; Edvinsson trying to run him all game and Michkov absolutely levelled him. All that being said Bédard vs Michkov in Texas was so fun to watch and it is sad we won’t get to see it at this tournament; hopefully the world gets back to normal and we can see that matchup in December

They could sign a peace treaty tomorrow, tournament participants for the 2022-'23 season are already set. There will be no Russia.

Nor do they deserve to be there.

Aside from Gretzky, has there been a more impactful player for us in this tournament at this tender age then Bedard?

He's been fantastic thus far, interested to see if he can continue being this key a player against the better clubs, My money would be on yes, playmaking or shooting he can burn you in a jiffy.

I've been somewhat surprised at how good a playmaker he actually is, he's a shoot first guy but he can make all sorts of plays.

That part of his game has been under sold up to this point IMO.

Nope. There's Lindros at 16 years old was pretty good, not great. Bedard was trending to have a better 1st. tournament as a 16 year old than Eric. Eric's second tournament at 17, he was a tour de force dominant, but technically this is still Bedard's first tournament, having just turned 17 a few weeks back, so the 2nd. place Baby Award for Junior Excellence goes to Connor. .

True enough, it will be tough to match Lindros and his 17 points at this tourney in 91, and the Big E did more then just put points on the board.

Roy looked really good with DuFour. Ended up with 4 points on the night, 3 after being switched lines. I would keep those to together.

How about next spring's WHC we see a line of Perfetti McTavish Bedard Power Drysdale. All 5 should be available. I think those 5 will open up my WHC roster as the 3rd. line. Labour Day weekend.

I'd make room for all of them. We will need as much talent as we can get, the tourney is going to be in Finland again and if last years tournament was any indication teams are going to need all the help they can get in order to, how shall I put this............................."overcome" certain aspects of having to please the riled up home crowd as to not wreck the party.

When playing them at that thing next year, go in with the mindset that you are a goal down before the game starts. because you likely are.

How has Grieg looked? Haven’t been able to tune into a game yet.
Hes looked really good but took a couple penalties which coulda bit them in the ass a bit. His play has been exactly how you would read it in a scouting report... if hes staying out of the box hes effective

Looked like one of Canada's best players in the first game and was named player of the game. Some undisciplined penalties though. He looked good in the second game, and took another penalty, but then he didn't play much in the second half and wasn't even on the bench for much of the third. Hopefully just a minor problem.

Canada looks very good. Confident. Skilled. McT is icing on the cake and could carry the team to Gold.

However, I expected more chemistry from the team after 3 games - hopefully it will come.

Tough game vs the Finns and then an easy quarter final match.

I 've seen all the top teams play and Canada looks best (so far) to these old eyes.

I honestly thought Finland would be much better. Sweden has looked about as expected.

It's hard to gauge both Canada and US so far, as they haven't faced a real contender yet. But they seem to be the clear favorites at this point. Canada's offense looks scary considering they really haven't clicked yet, and USA's defense seems really solid. Ultimately I'd give the edge to Canada because Garand is so much better than anyone the US has.

I expect both of them to finish 1st in their pools.

I'm hoping to see the U.S goaltender get some quality shots tonight which I am sure he will, it's still a total unknown what kind of goaltending they have here, highly anticipating seeing what's up there for Team U.S.A. The rest of the team has looked great and fully agree they have the best defense here.
