Game 2 scratches are Riley Kidney, Carson Lambos, Brett Brochu.
Del-Mastro comes in on defence - Brennan Othmann comes in on offence as the 13th F

This could be a disaster...HC has appointed Andrea Skinner as interim CEO. Instead of a hockey person we have someone who's made a career of pushing a woke agenda. We'll see but I'm worried
Should’ve gone with Lou Lamoriello.

He’s not woke. He’s asleep.

You'd also think that it's Garand's spot to lose. Looked much calmer than Cossa did and Slovakia did generate some chances early in the game.

Othmann did wonders for that top line. If Greig is healthy, i'd like to see Roy take Foersters spot on that second line because they haven't shown much so far in the tournament and Foerster looks out of place. Wouldn't mind if Foerster drew out of the line up to be honest.

Credit to Cameron for making an obvious change. Roy wasn't working up there. Othmann doesn't need the puck to be effective.
Well, he actually had that line combination to start camp. Not sure why it took him so long to circle back but better late than never...

You guys have so much talent in this forward group, and Garand looked fantastic. Honestly the Slovaks probably should have had 2-3 more goals, as impressed as I've been with the forwards I'd be pretty concerned with the quality of defending through the first two games. Slovakia got way more chances than they should have.

Probably already been covered, anyway, Shane wright in the lineup? He hurt?

As far as I know he just opted not to go. Probably thinks he has a good chance to make the NHL next month.

Canada has certainly looked messy on defence so far. Players getting caught up ice and some running around in the defensive zone. Garand playing very calmly helped against Slovakia. Thus far only USA has looked steady on defence, but overall there seems to be sloppier defending than usual at this tournament.

Sounds like Othmann was scratched by Cameron in the first game against Latvia due to penalties in the pre-tourney game against Sweden.

Glad to see he woke up and realized this guy needs to be in a prominent role on the squad. Too talented not to be.

Yeah that one move woke up Roy and made the top line look more functional. Spacing was much better with Othmann.

Hoping Greig is OK. Lines seem to be shaking out a bit, at last.

Othmann-McTavish-Bedard
Johnson-Stankoven-Foerster
Ostapchuk-Greig-Dufour
Roy-Desnoyers-Cuylle
Still don’t like that 2nd line

I’d go with

Othmann-McTavish-Bedard
Cuylle-Roy-Johnson
Greig-Stankoven-Dufour
Ostapchuk-Desnoyers-Foerster

I don't think Roy is a center at this point in all honesty. Not sure the last time he played there. I would draw Foerster out personally and run something like this:

Othmann - McTavish - Bedard
Johnson - Stankoven - Cuylle
Roy - Kidney - Desnoyers
Ostapchuk - Greig - Dufour

Ditto with the sentiment regarding Roy. No point at all having him on the McTavish line. Perhaps with teams trying to intimidate Bedard someone a little more physically aggressive might be called for.

Considering he plays in the WHL I dont see any team at the World Juniors intimidating him.

I still do not see how Jean Luc Foudy did not get picked. Any Idea?? He can easily be better than Gaucher or Kidney. With 2 years of AHL experience and AHL playoff, he is at the same level as Sebrango. He is fast, skilled, can carry the puck, kill penalties, take face-offs, play on the wing. He can easily play on TC 4th line. I am still not sure why TC did not pick him.
