Rough season for many Slovaks overall:

Hudacek was dumped by Neftekhimik.
Lantosi - dumped by Rogle.
Rybar - effectively relegated to backup.
Cajkovsky - traded away by Dynamo.
Jurco - only found a job in November.
Bakos - getting scratched in Sochi.

Rough. A bit of a team of outcasts.

Jurco was injured after the Olympic qualification in the summer. He started looking for a club after injury.

Its not so bad as it look like:
Hudacek was dumped by Neftekhimik. - effectively a NLA star from beginning
Lantosi - dumped by Rogle. - Still doing good in new team
Rybar - effectively relegated to backup. - From 24.10. he played every game (5). Is still 91.03 % in KHL. I mean, that is not a star level, but for sure not a
disappointment

Cajkovsky - traded away by Dynamo. - yeah, but played regularly in new team and it seems, also his productivity is on the rise.
Jurco - only found a job in November. - unknow, but if Ufa signed him, they see him as a reinforcement.
Bakos - getting scratched in Sochi. - ok, Bakos has a rough time. But he isnt a difference maker in national team. His place could take many other players.

Its not so bad as it look like:
I didn't say they became bad players over the summer but they did have a rough season thus far.

Regarding points you have made, Rybar only plays regularly because Kolosov is injured/ill and Jurco got signed by Barys, not Ufa which makes quite a bit of difference.

Halak
Huska
Rybar

Fehervary - Cernak
Jaros - Sekera
Chara - Gernat
Marincin - Cajkovsky

Tatar-Hudacek-Panik
Cehlarik-Hrivik-Lantosi
Jurco-Ruzicka-Studenic
K.Pospisil-Skalicky-M.Pospisil
Kristof, Bakos

Hudacek is not a natural center, he is pretty poor defensively and is having a rocky season. I'm fairly certain he is closer to not making the team than he is to playing 1st line center.

It would be nice to see Ruzicka get some NHL time because on the surface, he seems like the best option Slovaks have.

Tatar - Ruzicka - Panik
Cehlarik - Hrivik - Studenic
Jurco - Hudacek - Lantosi
K. Pospisil - M. Pospisil - Slafkovsky

Fehervary - Cernak
Jaros - Sekera
Marincin - Ceresnak
Cajkovsky - Nemec

Halak
Huska
Tomek

I know Slafkovsky and Nemec are great talents, but maybe best on best tournament is too early for them. I know they where good in WC, but OG is much higher level.

Anyways, things looks good right now for the slovaks:

Tatar, Fehervary, Halak doing good.
Jurco 6 points in 9 KHL games.
Chara playing better.
Panik and Jaros back in NHL.
Ruzica and Studencic played several NHL games this season.
Huska got 1 game in NHL.
Bakos and Liska keeps producing points in KHL.
Hudacek 8 goals in 10 NLA games.
Kristof 25 points in 28 games in Czech League.

What do you guys think of Danos chances?

Peter Trska
Juraj Mikus
Tomas Marcinko
Tomas Mikus

Are all doing great in the Czech League. Flying under the rader.

Oh, Marek Viedensky seems back...lots of experiance in that guy.

Its tougher to make this team as a defender because our defense should be solid. You have NHL players like Chara (if he still wanna play), Cernak, Sekera, Fehervary ... NHL/AHL guy Jaros ... From Europe Peter Ceresnak (probably our best defender in Europe), Marincin and Gernat (I think both of these guys are locks) .... And then also Cajkovsky and Ramsays favourite Daloga. But I can definitely imagine Slafkovsky in 4th line with players like Liška, Milos Roman or Kelemen.

Liska only 22 years old and putting up points in KHL:

I heard some say he has bad hockey iq...but he finds a way to put up points.

Since NHL players won´t be able to play at the Olympics, I think it´s the right time to start discussion about our roster.

If Konrad won´t be healthy and simultaneously in the form, I´d go with these three. If he´ll be, then I want to see him and Rybar fight for the spot in the net. Tomek as a third option. Godla out.
1. Rybar
2. Tomek
3. Godla

Very experienced defence but at the same time not old at all.
1. Ceresnak-Cajkovsky
2. Gernat-Marincin
3. Nemec-Rosandic
4. Daloga-Grman (ideally, small minutes or none)
Other options are Ivan and Gachulinec.

I´d say two offensively stacked lines, one that can surprise big time and one pretty dynamic. Slafkovsky is must go.
1. Lantosi-Hrivik-Cehlarik
2. Jurco-Hudacek-Pospisil
3. Kelemen-Kristof-Slafkovsky
4. Takac-Roman-Holesinsky
Liska/Bakos, Dano/Griger

When I compare this team with the one from 2018, it´s like day and night. To give you an illustration, our team four years ago:
Konrad (J. Laco) – Baranka, Starosta, Ceresnak, Granak, Cajkovsky, Valach, Daloga – Surovy, Kudrna, Nagy – Bakos, Bubela, Hascak – Hovorka, Marcinko, Lamper – Kristof, Paulovic, Olvecky – Cingel

Ironically, now we have better chance for a medal, than with NHL players.
The change really made it interesting. I obviously want NHL and best on best.

However, before I'd say only 5 teams had a chance at a medal. Now more like 7 or 8.

Slovaks chances definitely improved... I'd consider you a medal threat now
Czech chances improved... also a medal threat
Chinese KHL team should be more competitive
Russians and Finns went from 'in the hunt' to 'Gold medal favs'

I'm mad no NHL players but I am exctied about this tourney and love that it will be a bit more balanced. The Slovak games are now much see TV for me as well as the Czech ones.

Are AHL players allowed to go? If so than this would be how I would line the team up.

Lantosi-Hrivik-Cehlarik
Studenic-Ruzicka-K. Pospisil
Panik-M. Pospisil-Slafkovsky
Jurco-Kristof-Roman

Ceresnak-Cajkovsky
Nemec-Marincin
Gernat-Rosandic
Daloga-Ivan

1. Rybar
2. Godla
3. Tomek

Players on an AHL contract should certainly be allowed, players on an NHL contract but playing in the AHL is likely a case by case basis, and requiring permission from the NHL team

I don't think they can. 1 way only (Josh Ho Sang)

1 way contracts only or else a LOT of really good players would be heading over.. heck the Czechs could just Kempny, Dostal, Kral and Galvas. Canada could fill an entire roster and so could the US.

FTR.. I do think that should be the case and wish it was

I don't know exactly what the rules are, but there have been some reports from legitimate sources about Canada's long list, and it includes NHL contracted players in the AHL like Jack Quinn, Cole Perfetti, Peyton Krebs.

No checking-line? I was under impression that Ramsey likes to have some grinders on the team.

Perhaps:

R.Bondra - Marcinko - Lunter
