That Team Slovakia Olympic roster actually looks pretty good. On paper at least.

I have to re think their position / success at the Olympics.

One of the better rosters. For example, better what Sweden, USA, Canada rosters.

I agree with Rosandic, he could help the team.
Mikus is old and slow, he doesn't suit to Ramsey's system.
Trska was terrible on national level, mainly defensively. I don't believe he could contribute something special to the team. All defensemen on the roster are better than him.

Rosandič has got covid for the third time in one year, according to unconfirmed sources (source SlovakNHL). What a bad luck! This could be the reason for his absence on the olympic roster.

What makes you think that we are better than Sweden on paper? I guess you could make a point about us being better than USA since their roster is mostly NCAA players, but still I wouldn't be so sure. Canada hasn't named their full roster yet as far as I know, but judging by the players they already confirmed, I really don't think we will be the better team on paper.

The guy you quote is a famous swedish basher. He even said in one thread that China has stronger roster than us and that we have no good d prospects in another thread. So bascially Sweden is the worst hockey nation in the entire Olympics if you ask him. Its funny becuse Sweden beat finland in og 2018 and we have won like 5 of the last 7 games against Finland in EHT.

Hell, i been hard on Sweden aswell. But its becuse the coaches not our player quality.

Though my Slovak needs polishing, what I gather from this, is that Kristof has now tested negative and Lasak was false-positive. Cehlarik and Grman won't travel with the team today, but are not yet ruled out for the tournament.

You are right, this is new info. But I still do not have good feeling about this tournament. Players with no symptoms should not be tested at all or tested only once in a week..

This is happening verywhere... Antilla for Finns.. Krejci for Czechs.

I 'think' that China has a buble. The idea is that once these guys clear, they will get in the bubble and I don't expect any more of these cases. Note: I'm not trying to get into the politics of it. Just pointing out that it should go very smooth once the 10 or so players can finally get in that bubble. It's a much different strategy then world Jrs where there were wedding receptions going on.lol

Obvioulsy losing Cehlarik (or Krejci) would suck! Let's hope for clean tests and getting them in that bubble. The ladies seem to be having less issues.

How do you think it ends for your boys?

I hope we will get into quarterfinal and we will have good game against our opponent there.
IMO at good constellation and with some luck we can win against every team but we can also loose to everyone maybe except China... So it is hard to predict.

I'm surprised that Slovakia picked Kristian Pospisil instead of Pavol Skalicky. I think Skalicky is a better player.

Skalicky is not the better player. He’s a big body who can block shots and that’s about it. He was somehow being used on the powerplay at the WC and was completely useless

I'm mostly talking about seeing both in Liiga. Atleast in Liiga Skalicky was better. Pospisil also goes angry really easily and takes dumb penalties.

Slovakia lost, but undercover it was pretty good still. Didint look hopeless at all. I hope that the loss helps you get under estimated by opponents in future which will work in your favor

The 17 year old prospect seems interesting. I have to follow him little a bit in Liiga.

Special teams were bad, they need a reshuffle and Slafkovsky has to be on a PP unit!
Nemec likely needs to be paired with someone else, well overall the defensive play needs a bit overhaul.
Dano and Jurco need less icetime, while Slafkovsky and Regenda need more of it.
