Showcase weekend for NB/PEI league in Bathurst. Looking forward to seeing some of the talented 06's!
Hi , I’ve been scouting some Midget AAA games in Quebec recently and I’ve been seeing some players that nobody really mentioned in the forum.
I saw Thomas Desruisseaux and Élliot L’Italien a couple of times in your lists and they’re ,for me , just obvious first rounder in the draft this year.
Justin Poirier is not really being talked about but he is having a hell of a year and I could see him get out in the top 10.
Two players that I didn’t see at all in your reports and that surprised me a bit when i watched them are Maxim Lafond and Nathan Brisson. For the moment , I don’t see them going in the 1 round but they could be solid 3 or even 2 rounder in my opinion and I’m kind of interested by them by the way they play.Does any of you have a scouting report or just a personal opinion about these 2 players?
Poirier, defenitly a big riser. Not a tall but heavy and plays like a big guy, not affraid to play physicaly.Sniper with an hard shot. Discipline was a concern in his case but he seemed that he adressed it. Should go first round
Brisson : Not tall, great IQ good sets of skills and great abillity to find opens lanes. Third rounder to me
Lafond : Great shape and use it to his advantage. Not affraid to ride the middle of the ice. Skating his truly an issue, wich it's should not be with all the extras he put on over the time. More often in reaction mode than anticipation mode. I don't think he will go higher then a fourth round IMO.
Wic and Iser what do you think of 06 dad posting on the board, pretending to be scout and upgrading their son & son friend to their A list ?

Hi guys I was just wondering what’s your thought on the Gatineau prospect right now in the Midget AAA and Espoir?
Their top prospects are Thomas Hébert (Chateauguay) and Cristiano Spadafora (Laval-Montreal).
Hebert is a very good right handed two-way D. Having a good season so far. Very good potential in my opinion.
For Spadafora, all I can say is that he's not having the offensive contribution expected so far.
There is also a 6th rounder, Justin Julien playing with Gatineau Midget AAA. Doing OK so far (but less than 0.5 PPG). Bottom 6 potential if he makes it.
Gatineau doesn't have the greatest prospect pool for sure.
Just compared the 2019 roster to this year and I guess I answered my own question. There are 5 kids from that team playing Midget AAA, which would be why the Espoir team isn't nearly as strong. What happened to Gatineau? Their 2006 group was always really strong, they were one of the top two teams in the province during the last (almost) full season and they always seemed to develop well and be strong. They were big and physical but also well coached and had good talent. This year they're way down in the standings.
With all the hype around the Monctonian this weekend I wish all the teams and their players success in front of the scouts as they battle to showcase themselves
With that being said I want to jump right in and pump some tires of my own. Everyone knows I am a huge fan of what the Mount has been doing for these kids. So Let’s talk Mount Academy shall we a lot of people said the teams are not going to be good this year. No one will get drafted, well I know it’s only November but I am seeing a lot of talent and it’s only just starting.
They are skating 3 Midget AAA teams at the Div 1 prep level and winning. A U17 team that has every kid on it draft eligible. A U18 #1 team which is 90 percent built with drafted players from last year with a couple 2005 non-drafted players, which could see themselves going somewhere in this years draft. And a U18#2 team which is built with mostly 05 04 & 03’s with 4 06’s 1 D & 3 FWDs. These 06’s are all draft eligible players as well, and are playing very well with the ice time they are seeing. It’s not easy being a 06 playing and completing for ice time against 04’s & 03’s. But they are doing it well, while helping their team win.
The last time I posted I made the mistake of calling this team the weaker team. Boy was I wrong. This team over the last month has really turned things around & surprised me going 7-2-0 in their last 9 games, while really turning heads in the CSSHL and the NPUHL.
I believe this team had challenges from the beginning. Huge age gap between players, 3 Goalies battling for the 1 spot and a new coach to boot, with all the obstacles in their way they are still finding ways to grow and build as a team while getting better doing it. Look for this team to continue to turn heads going forward. Especially closer to draft time.
I would love to see the U17 team and the U18#2 team both with the 06 draft eligible players have a chance to compete in the Ice Jam in the New Year or even get a chance to play a couple of the U18AAA teams in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick to see how they stack up to everyone judgement.

Agreed, the Mount teams profiled have been playing RNS & KES locally and both those teams are at the Monctonian. I think they will be in tough but time will tell. There is a bit of footage in the scout site from these teams. I think it will be interesting to see how the teams from the prep leagues do at the Monctonian. That will help levelset the competition and statistics. See you all in Moncton!
Saw that today. Thanks!A lot of games are on youtube or facebook.
