Yes i know !! I think these players should be in Major instead of other players there !!
There can always be debate over the bottom 5 at the Major Level compared to a top line Minor player. That said, it is pretty rare a Major Midget team pass over a top 6 forward/top 4 D who is a draft eligible 15 year old. I think the discussion here is higher end draft talent for next year. Most of the players noted in the forum from the Maritimes are stepping into big roles playing important minutes at the highest level and producing. There is definitely talent in the Minor level but historically they are late round picks at best who develop a little later.

Yes i agree !! But I think over my years experience theirs a lot of politic involved and alot of good players give up in the process!!

have not seen them play since the U14s...personally I have not seen any NFLD player since Covid hit...this is from one guy on the island who scouts for the QMJHL I do part time work for now...that said I do not even know where those players play this season? Marcus Kersey and Nolan Avery....again I watched them in the U14 Atlantic Challenge Cup but that was it

Since I retired from scouting i still help a team out with some work...I know the lists i get (I have not been to Quebec yet to see anyone) have these guys as A prospects

A:

Eliot L'Italien--F--SSF
Marek Beaudoin--F--St Hyacine
Julien Lanthier--D--Vikings
Felix Lacerte--F--Trois Riv
Gabriel D'Aigle--G--St Hyacine
Adam Fortier-Gendron--D--Phenix
William Dumais--F--Trois Riv
Alexis Michard--F--SSF
Maxime Masse--F--Notre Dame
Vincent Murray--D--Gatineau
Xavier Veilleux--D--SSF
Justin Carbonneau--F--Levis
Justin Poirier--F--Chatenguay
Sacha Boisvert--F--Mount St Charles 15U
Mattias Gilbert--D--St Hyacine
Jeremy Leroux--F--Stanstead

a lot of the Quebec scouts are really out of sorts this year...where no one was able to play bantam last year (U15)...players are falling and others are rising as no one really has an idea of where these players are....still early in the year just wait till some guys get their feet and wits to get back into game shape....also scouting in the QMJHL does not really mean much till November that is when the scouts really start paying attention...so this list i put up I just want you to know is not mine...it was a collective effort in quebec by scouts i know

Connor Davis, Bremshey, Desruisseaux?

I watched Kersey at the Stanstead tournament a couple weeks back. He looked good…. Likely should be in the conversation.

you must be a Lac St Louis fan...Davis and Bremshey are B prospects on the early list....Thomas Desruisseaux is also a B...again early list, I have not seen any Quebec guys yet and will be soon enough...

To me, Desruisseaux is the best forward in the province. He was clear cut the best at hockey QC camp with 9 pts in 3 games and a +9. He was excellent in pre-season and looked like the best player on Levis before he got injured.

If this guy isn't picked in the top 5 I'll be surprised.

He has great skating, hockey sense, has good hands and a nice shot. He plays with a lot of grit and competes hard. There is no hole in his game.

I'd even go as far as to say that there is a gap between him and the other SSF and Levis players you listed as As (I would have most of them as A rated as well)

I am not a fan it is just that they are both currently doing better then El-Hawat who I saw on a list and those 2 players weren't.

Hey ... I am a goalie advocate guy so I am just wondering why no one has really mentioned this Eli James kid in NS. He set all new league records last year in U15 (0.99 GA & 0.952 Save%) and was maybe the best player at any position for the 2006 group coming into U18 this season. He did end up on a team with 15 rookies (Weeks Majors) so he's off to a slow start so maybe that's why he hasn't received any love on this forum????

If a player had of set all new scoring records they would be mentioned many times throughout these threads I suspect!

Liam Furey is also quite promising but he also has a much more talented line up playing in front of him (Halifax MacDonalds) so this has a significant impact on goalie stats of course.

I would agree that James has been the top 2006 goalie in NS. He should be getting some attention...but I guess its just the nature of the position, they tend to get drafted a bit later then at top F or D.....so less chatter.
He is off to a slow start, Weeks, should be a little deeper now that Wallace is back and Lochead's return is just around the corner. James is listed at 5.10. but to me he looks bigger then that.
Hearing that a top D has left the Team as well....which will never a good thing.

I agree Janes is the best 2006 tender in Nova Scotia. And with the return of Wallace and Lockhead Weeks will be stronger in the near future for sure. Losing a top D is definitely going to hurt them.
Another player from New Glasgow Nova Scotia who is having a great year on a weaker team is Brady Croft Playing for the Mount Academy U18’s I said before I was a huge fan of him last year playing U15. I like his style of play, sees the ice well and has a strong work ethic. And after seeing that he put up 3 points in 4 games in Ontario two weeks ago and another 2 points in Laval. I believe as time goes on and as he gets for comfortable the points will keep coming. Not saying he is in the top 3 rounds yet or anything but I believe come time he will be there

Connor Davis, Bremshey, Desruisseaux?

Yes, Got Desruisseaux in my B's. Not as enthusiast as Winter Sun, but the season is still young, let see. It is true that he had a great U16 camp, but played a bit over his head in my mind. Did not saw that type of performance since from him. For Davis, might get on my C list before the draft if his physical game improves by a lot. I doubt that Bremshey will crack the first half of the draft.

Yes I heard they lost 2 players due to the vaccine mandate ... those poor kids ... can't even step foot in a rink without one. Looks like James finally had a super solid outing ... stopped 34/36 in a 2-1 loss to Halifax on Sunday ... sorry 3-1 with the empty netter.

Was at the Cole Harboir Wolfpack and Halifax MacDonalds game in the ( NS U18 major)last evening oct 20. The Wolfpack dominated from whistle to whistle in all aspects of the game , with the coaching change looks like CH is the team to beat lead by 2006 born Reese Peitzsche dominated everywhere and he’s only 14 , 17 pts in 13 games this kid is a stud , defiantly 1st round talent. Coen miller and Ben Robertson climbed up the ranks in my opinion as well solid performances from the rookies .

It's hard but if he scores over 30 goals at like 6'2 - 180lbs, he'll get it.
Did we jink the kid? Morin has not scored since this post....pointless in his last 8. Understanding he is not on a strong team, but.

Yeah, CEB is all kinds of bad. I would not read too much into it, but it's not a bad thing that he has to face adversity right now. Have not seen CEB the past couple weeks so hard to tell.

On a positive note, his PIM's are not increasing out of frustration, which tells me he will work thru this minor slump.

Nobody mentions Owen Bresson 2006 either, 6'2 goalie who plays for South Kent Selects. I watched him play in a Beast League Tournament last weekend, his team won it all and they put out Wil Shield's team in the Semi's, I thought Owen was outstanding

Had the opportunity to see Lecompte & Morin twice each

Will use Martin St Louis word of wisdom I heard recently:

Lecompte plays the hockey game as required for the next level
Morin plays more of an Instagram hockey type of game
