Rangers just upgraded in goal and at 2nd line center with Halak and Trocheck. They're going to be extremely tough next year.
In goal? I would say it's a wash at the very best.

Georgiev wasn't any good, but look at Halak's last two years and he's 37 years old.

I fully expect Igor to play more games next year than he did this last year, so in a way they probably did upgrade in goal.

I would like to emphasize just how brutal that commute is to Long Island. It gets worse every year. Rangers are out of it. Not sure if Caps have any interest. But he's looking at a 2 hour drive at best from Long Island. Routinely could be 4 hours, depending on the time of the day.

It would be a miracle for them to get better goaltending than they got last year. Even accounting for Halak being better than Georgiev. And Trocheck seems more like a lateral move from Copp.

It's days like this that working nights really sucks. I didn't get to sleep until like 6 this morning, woke up at 9, and have to be to work at 5 tonight. Make a decision Johnny so I can get a nap in yet before work.

I really should just take draft and free agency days off.

Good players deserve to get paid and Bratt is pretty easily worth over 7M. Getting him for less than that is a dream.
people need to slow down a bit with Bratt. His point total went up 2.5X in a contract year. I actually think Fitz is too smart to sucked into a contract that will be an albatross. He had a nice season on a really bad team. Again all while playing for his next contract. He's exactly the kind of player that gets a contract that gets a gm fired. 1 year wonder and gets huge deal that never lives up to expectations.

I'm going back to sleep, but I just want all Devils fans to give Fitzgerald some credit -- even if Gaudreau signs elsewhere, this is two years in a row that Fitzgerald made a concerted effort to sign the best free agent on the market.

I know most of the people on HFBoards are cool and get this, but on social media a lot of people are making it seem as if Fitzgerald's job hinges on signing Johnny Gaudreau, and I just don't feel this way. Fitzgerald has done quite well on the trade market and in signing his players, and is coming off a terrific draft. I'm very encouraged by this performance.
