Reading some JG’s quotes about Calgary and it makes sense for him to go to Columbus.

There was some stuff about everyone knowing who you are and always being in the lime light.

He was probably waiting on a small market team to make an offer. Regardless, at the end of the day he didn’t want to come here, so screw him. ( But seriously between The Devils and Calgary he left millions on the table to Hide..)

I'm well aware of why they were bad, and it was just goaltending. But enjoy Holtz' 28 points.

Truly curious how anyone can have a positive outlook on the past few weeks

They have a top 3 prospect pool in the NHL and 2 potential franchise centers under 24 years old plus another point per game winger

ITs fine to be upset today, but making ridiculous blanket statements like this are absurd. PEople are allowed to be positive about the future, and for good reason.

They're not finishing bottom 5. It's just not a playoff roster. For better or worse, all of the eggs were put in the Gaudreau basket and the Devils are left holding the bag.

The Devils are below the cap floor right now. They'll get over with Bratt, Vanecek and Wood, but it's pretty incredible that a team that wants to "take the next step" and "compete" can has the second most cap room in the entire league as of July 13th.

Huh? Almost the entire roster is either on an ELC or 2nd contract. Tatar, Hamilton, and Haula are the only players of consequence who aren't. Bratt and Wood will be 2 more guys who aren't.

if the Devils iced the literal exact same roster, but got Vanacek's stats from last year all year in goal they would have won 8 or 10 more games this past year.

yes, they need to improve. They need another goal scorer. The season is also 3 months away.
lol. do you always make statments that can't be backed up? If they got vanacek's stats from last year they would have won 8 to 10 games more. LOL Who comes up with this nonsense? If it didn't make me laugh I wouldn't have repsonded. sad thing is you probably believe that.

Im not worried about any of them in 2 or 3 years, but we are better than 0 of those teams right now. Exactly 0.
Meh, you have no clue. As we’ve seen, one or multiple goalie injury changes the entire season. The season will go about as well as Blackwood returns to form (and how the PP does). This wasn’t actually a bad team last year and Jack Hughes is a genuine superstar.

dont watch then? I mean you cant control what other teams do.
I don't mean to attack you personally, but man I absolutely hate this retort when people express their frustration.

The only reason any of us clowns are on this Godforsaken forum bitching about the Devils is because we desperately want this team to start winning again.

If not watching / not caring was imply an option I don't think this forum would be very active at this point lol

You'd think for a fanbase that has it's fair share of Jets fans, they'd know what actual incompetence looks like...
It's certainly not incompetence. Today could have gone much worse with some of the contracts that were thrown around. It's just the frustrations of a 12-15 year rebuild.

if the Devils had league average goaltending last year, yes, they would have won 8 to 10 more games.

They had league worst goaltending last year. Their goalies allowed almost 70 goals above expected in all situations. SEVENTY.

That's awesome. Maybe we can use all that cap space to sign a good player someday

It's not nonsense, it's statistics. With average goaltending we far fewer goals than we did, fewer goals allowed leads to more wins.

So for those of you who don't think this is a disaster, what do the Devils do now?
Blanked on Fiala, Cat, JG. Is JT Miller all we have now, maybe?
For a team that wanted to "improve" and "be aggressive", the devils certainly failed
It was reported that Fiala was signing with only one team and that was L.A.

DeBrincat wasn’t signing an extension, it would’ve been horrible to trade big assets for a guy who wouldn’t have been cost controlled.

JG took less money to go to Columbus. Fitz did his job there.
