Rieger and Matthew Wood, fk yes

I'm pretty excited to see Matt Morden on this team. He's the first player from old high school to be named directly to a HC team. Some talent rolling out of there these days: Newhook, Foegele, Morgan Barron, Cam Hillis, Andonovski, Kody Clark, now Morden. Funny how much better they got once I left :laugh:

Freakin' locker room is nicer than some NHL rooms!

Wow! That is nice. Yeah, an interesting pick.

I expect a few CAHS players to be picked this year.

Jiricek is a better player than Seider was at this time in 2019, that's pretty clear. But Seider is also 10x the player he was on draft day.
That’s revisionist. Seider was an absolute beast of a prospect and it should have been obvious to everyone. I called him going 6 to Detroit and that was an obvious pick for the Red Wings to make.

Slaf probably only guy who can play in NHL next season. At 18 he is physically mature. With his size and reach and shot. He could go 2nd where he offers immediate help

He had a monster WC where his unreal physical tools stood out. His skating. gap control, defending and physicality ect were already close to NHL level.

His offensive tools were a bit raw, but you could see the potential. I had him ranked 4th OV after that WC.

I know. He was a physical turbo beast, with great defence. Right now he's one of the best dmen in the NHL. There is a huge gap between those two points. 2 years after his draft he was the best dman in the SHL, period. Saying that Moritz Seider developed like gangbusters is ''revisionism'' is just silly.

Don’t know how to link specific posts in old threads but there’s a bunch in here: RD Moritz Seider (2019, 6th, DET)

Dude, he's big and right handed? No way.

Right now, in the eyes of many, Moritz is about even with Dahlin as a player, if not even better. He's clearly better than Byram. That's how much he developed between then and now.

So you tell me who's being revisionist.

This was my scouting report from the early bird mock draft, for comparison

Tampa Bay selects from Adler Mannheim Moritz Seider

Moritz is a huge defenceman with excellent skating. Already a defensive stalwart in a European men's league, he has also proven himself quite capable in transition. He had a fantastic WJC tournament in which he was one of his team's leading scorers. While his offensive game is quite straight forward, we believe there could be some serious upside to this player as he matures. As Nik Lidström said, first worry about playing your position well. Moritz does just that.

@le_sean with Ottawa is up. PMing now.

Like not at all. Slaf has a long way before being top 6 in Liiga, so not NHL ready at all in my opinion. The KK mistake all over again.
Exactly. Why do we always have to rush our prospects. It's better he dominate in Liiga before moving to North America and even then he should at least start in the AHL.

We have to be more patient with our prospects.
