Fantilli is going third. We can close that convo now
I wouldn't rule out 2nd if Fantilli goes and wrecks the NCAA next year. If you're a GM and have a big #1C staring you in the face, do you pass him up for a special talent from Russia who won't be on your team for 3 years minimum? Even if Michkov is Kucherov/Kaprizov the minute he steps on NHL ice, it's a long time to wait. Then you have the political situation to account for.

Yeah, this is a much deeper draft then has been reported. I've said that since December. It goes straight through 3rd round too.

Arizona and Seattle should set themselves up nicely with this draft, as should we.
Mistake, thats not 4, thats 6 picks in the top 75, crazy.

You have never seen a real scouting report because the people that you are reading are not scouts. I know enough real scouts to know that the kid has some real flaws but they appear to be very fixable. His speed is sub par and if you are going to pretend that I am the only one saying that then you are indeed tuning into false narratives. It isn't like I don't think he is a very good prospect worthy of a top 5 pick......just that I am a better judge of skating ability than the fake scouts that you enjoy reading.

If you disagree that is fine, I am only sharing my opinion and I would be fine if the Habs end up taking him if we drop to 4th or 5th.
All the scouts are wrong and I’m right. That’s fresh. Yeah let me listen to random dude on HF rather than actually watching him myself and reading professionals talk about him. It’s so much easier for you to say you misjudged him rather than doubling down on a complete fabrication.

Everybody is excited about this U18 and it's fun to be reminded that we can land guys like Cooley, Nazar, Kemell and Howard if we don't pick 1st overall. But, can you imagine if Wright was playing this year? He was already a dominant force last year at the U18. Wright is the player I want the most in this draft. He's gonna be valuable to our franchise.

If Dumais is there for our second first round pick it would be a mistake not to pick him. Same goes for Howard.

Great point. How soon we forget when Wright had 9 goals and 14 points in 5 games at the U18s LAST YEAR. Back when he was the stud of a future draft worth tanking for lol

I would still pick Shane Wright 1st overall over Owen Power. I really didn't see much in last year's draft. I don't think Beniers is impressive, Kent Johnson is all flashy but still has to have his game translate to the NHL. Mason McTavish is fun to watch and Wright can still compete with him. So, dunno why people hating on this year's draft so much when we don't know what Cooley and Slaf's ceiling are and Wright developing better after missing last season. Kemell, Savoie, Nazar are interesting top prospects and Jiricek/Nemec leading a crazy class of defencemen: Mintyukov, Matechuk, Korchinski, Pickering, Nelson, etc..

Man, Jordan Dumais is just ridiculous right now. 32 pts in last 10 games. 104 on season. If he had Savoie type of skating, he'd be in the discussion for top 5 pick. I really wonder where he goes?

If I had a billion picks like Arizona, I'd definitely take a chance on the kid.

Yes he is. Would add some dynamism to the offence. I’d feel really good moving forward with him and Suzuki anchoring the top two lines.
Not me, way too small. We would get physically steamrolled big time, especially in playoffs.

Draft Slaf this year. Bedard next year and there's 1/3 of your top 6 next season.

Slaff - Suzuki - Caufield
Hoffman - Bedard - Andy

Bedard becomes #1C in 2024

Yeah, make it happen hockey Gods!

I think Fantilli should be the consensus #2 regardless... a better player than Michkov. I fully expect Michkov to go down in production as he goes up in level, he's not the fastest. While Fantilli has all the tools to dominate at every level. Now, Dvorsky is in that conversation as well - and he's probably the most talented of the 3.
