By my 5 minutes of research on this kid and the zero tape that I watched from all other players available at this moment, I am shocked that all of the scouts still have their jobs. Unless he turns out to be a decent player in the organization, then I was right about him the whole time and knew he would be a really good player.

I could have drafted a 10 goal scorer with my ass without being a director of scouting..

NHL Potential

Minten has the potential to be a solid bottom-six center that also kills penalties. A player that probably will not eclipse 10 goals a season but will be out there late in games when defending a lead. There are still some areas he needs to improve, like his faceoff percentage, but once he does, he should have no problem finding an NHL job.

Here's the thing, you've gotta think these guys have seen something. we have been able to nab some really nice players with late picks like knies and niemela etc. Like this isn't the habs scouting ..
Its why I don't even bother looking into players before the draft anymore.

I use to love doing that stuff. Then I realized I don't know wtf I am talking about by watching some YT clips and looking at hockey db.

Way to go Dubas, these low upside picks have worked out so well for us these past 10+ years!

Well done by Jersey taking Casey, theres an organization with some balls..

Knies and Niemela were projected to go where we picked them in the first place. This guy was projected to go 3rd or 4th round

We have one dubas pick in the nhl
yeah but the picks he had are still developing nicely. I like the knies robertson sandin niemela amirov picks. I get people liked other prospects and what not but kinda strong reaction to this.

Im not saying I like this pick. I don't know shit lmao. But just saying they've probably seen something they really like.

I know I know shit-all, but still love it
It helps me to get to know the players better and I get a bit of shock-and-awe come draft day, but then I accept that these pros know way more than I do

we really wont know until a couple of years down the road lol.
Eh, like other people have said, very likely he would have been there down the line if that was really who scouting/Dubas wanted

Watch a good amount of WHL hockey, he doesn't exactly stand out

Smart pick assuming Matthews remains a leaf and we eventually find someone to fill JT's spot.

Might as well develop our own David Kampf...maybe not with a 2nd round pick though.

Same for me...I had some contacts and friends in the field so it was fun for sure to talk and pick their brains. life got in the way so it's not in-depth anymore just fun to speculate for sure though. Can definitely figure somethings out but not something I'll lose my sleep over
