I know I know shit-all, but still love it
It helps me to get to know the players better and I get a bit of shock-and-awe come draft day, but then I accept that these pros know way more than I do
Yea draft day is one of my favourite days of the year. I had a ton of fun during the rebuild days.

I just think some of the "horrible pick" comments are ridiculous. I am sure half are joking but I do think the other half actually are losing their minds haha

Is this like that voodoo economics stuff? You know, honestly we could really just fire all the scouts at this point and use the consolidated lists. I mean, lets face it.
It would be interesting to have no scouting and just draft based on consolidated scouting reports and see what happens.

To the poster who did the Outlook on penalties taken, how does minten compare on that? And anyone know how to see the type of penalties players take?

Projected to be a bottom 6 player that kills penalties and protects leads. I feel we could've gotten that later rounds.
He won't even sniff NHL my friend .. no wheels .. you have to be able to skate .. he is slower than Lucic .. when you skate at that level you better be toughest guy in league and he is not that guy either

Surprised no one has taken a swing on Hutson yet.
I'm also surprised (insert player listed high on lists) hasn't been taken yet, do these scouts not have the same list!? Did they scout themselves or something? Do they think they're scouts?! How did they not use the all knowing list?!

I think I looked into it at one point way back. We would have Aho, and a bunch of other interesting players, better position asset wise for sure. These guys in TO have been drafting duds for a while now. (((Excluding the no brainers)))

A bunch of people who are terrible at player evaluation here saying it was a bad pick.. maybe we found a gem.

Don't know enough about the prospect, but looks like a low-ceiling player which is upsetting. Although I did see that he generated a ton of shots just had a bad shooting %, so maybe there is some more offensive upside. Being strong defensively is nice though.

Is that possible for an 18 year old ?? Hard to believe we reach for a guy who is slower than Lucic.

He's a 2nd round pick. He's at least 5 years away from being a full time NHler. Maybe 3 or 4 years for a cup of coffee if he really took off.

5 years is lots of time with the Leafs staff and facilities to give him the tools to be a better skater. If what I read is true and he had a good assist rate, good shot generation, good underlying metrics, responsible two way center, but low shoot%, it's possible they found a diamond in the rough who has more potential than it appears on the surface.

Next season he might be a PPG+ center with size and score 40 goals or something. You never know with these picks. Then he'll have a few years with the Marlies and then the plan is probably for him to be our 3rd line C on an ELC
