A week and a half before the trade deadline is not the time to replace your GM, under normal circumstances - that should happen as soon as the season ends. However, if the GM is refusing to do the obvious for the good of the franchise, such as trading impending UFA's, I would hope the owners know enough about hockey to force the GM's hand. The reality is, we have no idea what is going on behind the scenes here, or what Lou's intentions are, although his history should give us a lot of concern. Only twice in his entire career has he moved a bigger name UFA for assets at or near the deadline.

And other team owners do? That’s why they hire experienced professionals with knowledge in the space.

I highly doubt Lou is lame duck or being removed anytime soon.

Remember, the Isles also have John Collins as a minority owner with deep league-wide connections. While he’s a business guy, he knows the underlying hockey elements. So, Malkin is not running blind here.
Why the f**k are you always poking? I made no such assertion. The point is, deferring to owners on hockey-related decisions is a bad idea. Furthermore, Lou is still sitting there so something is still f**ked up and John Collins isn't getting job done if that's who Malkin is listening to.

Whatever is being said, you're going to take the other side and poke at it for no other reason than to start a fight.

IDK. The basic framework would be that the UFAs must be dealt, and the strong preference is that they're dealt for futures. In such a futures deal, ownership approval is not needed..

If the UFAs, or anyone else, is in a proposed deal for something other than futures, the owners want to have sign-off approval.

I don't think that's onerous or unworkable.
I understand where you are coming from and I don't want Lou making decisions on his own about what kind of toilet paper they use at UBS much less personnel decisions at this point either, but nothing that I have seen or heard from the owners gives me any confidence they have a clue. That is my only point. To me it would be the blind leading the blind.

Ownership defers to Lou for all hockey matters.

When Lou underperforms based on THEIR criteria, then he’ll be sunset and another hire will come in. The value of Collins is he has hockey knowledge and league-wide connections.

Lou ain’t getting fired like fans want him to. Not for all the stuff he’s done for them.

From where I sit Collins value is zero and he is failing in whatever advisory role he holds so long as Lou sits in that chair. From Worcester to Bridgeport to Elmont this is a dysfunctional franchise.

If number 2 is true then I don’t even know what to say anymore. You seriously have to be delusional to not flip Nelson in the next 2 weeks.

The cap going up doesn’t help teams like the Isles. It gives more breathing room and flexibility to premium destination teams. The isles can get their sloppy seconds.

Replacing the GM should have happened in December.

Considering that Lou’s reputation is that as a straight shooter and an honest guy, I don’t believe that he leaks or telegraphs that he wants to sign a player as a plant item in the media to then change direction. I think Lou has every intention of signing Nelson, Palmieri, and Tsyplakov, and he intends to trade Dobson.

If #2 is true, I'm taking a long break and look forward to our next years lottery pick

I agree, it's a little late now....
Still could be done, but I highly doubt it.

received a call from NYI season ticket rep today.......Wow, what great timing brother.

They called me 2 years ago and I told them I will not be purchasing anything until Lou is gone. I hope you did the same...

...And I hope every fan that can gives up their season tickets if Lou is still around on May 1st.

If number 2 is true. Then Lou is definitely coming back. This guy Lou must cast a heck of a magic spell. Somehow our AGM is his son! Like we are a mess..
