CBJ just got two top 10 defensemen on both sides. In addition to Werenski already being there.

They do like their defense.

It's how you rebuild properly. Dmen take years to hit their stride. Get them in, and you will stuck suck. Then draft some franchise forwards, and when they are 23, your dmen are in their primes

That's still a significant drop off, 12 spots for a second and third round pick.

If this were a less significant drop off, I'd concur, but I think there's still some significantly skilled players on the board, and there's a rather significant drop off about to occur here shortly, long before 27.

With that being said, their pick was trash.
I wouldn't have taken Geekie that high, but I get the appeal.

I don't think it was that horrific. But, it depends on what teams do ahead of them. That's a ton of draft capital to acquire. 33 and 45 in this draft on top of 27. You could realistically leave with 2 guys you have A grades on (generally the top 20-22 of your list) with 27 and 33, and get a guy you have top 32 at 45.

Yep, just like Colorado did

3. Nazar
6. Yurov
8. Lekkerimaki
10. Kemell
12. Trikizov

Nazar, Lekkerimaki and Kemell are my BPA's. The first two are the only top 10 guys left on my board.

My top 5 was taken by #6.

Sure, but what happens if those guys get selected in between that large gap? It's clearly a gamble. If they took Nazar, Matechyuk or another high end guy, I'll happily be on the Yotes side of the deal.

The Jets are taking Lambert, it's a foregone conclusion. Scheifele, Connor, Laine, Lambert.
