He is not a bad player, but he is someone who needs a good development staff.

They already failed to develop Strome, who is a better version of Geekie.
Arizona is a mess, but I'd trust Bill Armstrong to figure things out over the clown show they had previously when it comes to player development.

He actually didn't. This drafts strength is depth. The top of this draft isn't particularly special. So, getting picks where you probably still get an A prospect on your board, and two high B's is likely a smart move.

That's still a significant drop off, 12 spots for a second and third round pick.

If this were a less significant drop off, I'd concur, but I think there's still some significantly skilled players on the board, and there's a rather significant drop off about to occur here shortly, long before 27.

With that being said, their pick was trash.

In all seriousness I think Geekie is great. He knows what he's best at and sticks to it similar to a JVR. Extremely limited, needs great linemates around him, but he's an excellent complementary guy and should have gone between 10-20.

... but Nazar is just sitting there.

Geekie? What on earth. Have to think Nazar goes to CLB

I would not be surprised if they go with a guy like Ohgren.

They don't love small players.

But Nazar may have the workman's attitude to go to a place like CBJ and do well despite that.

I think geekie is the MOST CONFIDENT, fun, selfish and swaggish player in the top 20. I knew that he would go under 12. Thought the sharks would take him... but they traded for the coyotes, surprised me. Geekie is exactly what our team would have needed also. This guy is the real deal, big, he even says himself that HE playes harder than his idols. What a young stud, so hard.
