I agree his skills are way better than McCarron's, but his skating might be worse. I don't know, maybe if he has actively avoided working on his skating until now and finds the right coach...
His skating is fine. Skating is closer to Kotkaniemi without the balance problems.

Cooley is like a lesser Jack Hughes

Theyre nothing alike. Hughes is a special player while Cooley is more of a do-it-all swiss knife player that doesnt really excel.

Trochek is a better comparison for Cooley.

lol woke up today thinking draft today only relized when i checked tv guide that its tomorrow night lmao.. also when did tsn lose draft night rights? i forget seems sportsnet has it :(

I’m more convinced than ever Wright will drop - if he drops below 3, it’ll be a repeat of Forsberg situation IMO - he’ll drop out of top-10

If he drops out of the Top-3, it will remind me of Seth Jones, who was seen as the 2nd overall in 2013 and even challenging for 1st overall by some pundits, challenging MacKinnon. MacKinnon went 1st. So everyone thought Florida would take Jones, but they took Barkov. And then Tampa took Drouin. So Jones fell out of the Top-3, but went 4th overall to Preds.

Yeah, the draft coverage has been pretty much complete crap since TSN lost the rights. Sam Cosentino is alright, but he’s no Bob McKenzie. Even Pierre McGuire was entertaining and knowledgable save for the odd shitty take and over excitement. I think we had all just gotten used to the TSN crew and hosts such as Gord Miller and James Duthie.

We’ll likely get a panel of Jeff Marek, Sam Cosentino and someone else. And we’ll likely have insights from guys like Anthony Stewart and Kelly Hrudey even though they know nothing about the draft lol

Will it not be ESPN doing it again combined with ESPN and Sportsnet talking heads?. Last year Gorton was on the panel with Cosentino and some host who was awkward in a creepy way. Gorton didn't seem comfortable in front of the camera. It wasn't close to the same quality as the TSN days. Pierre McGuire joined Sportsnet so he'll likely be there.

Disagree and note the term lesser.

McCarron and Tinordi played in the 2022 NHL playoffs....as bubble 4th liner and no6 D's. These guy can be acquired cheaply every year.

That's what you get when you go for 'safe' floor; low ceiling physical specimens.

It's better to swing with a Kuznetsov. Sure you can end up with a Sherbak but at least you tried and Bart can give you some cake.

I hadn’t heard about McGuire. That’s actually a good thing, IMO, even if people shit all over him. Sure he’s nerdy and excitable, but still miles ahead of many others on Sportsnet in terms of prospect knowledge.

What would ruin your draft night? For me, it would be drafting slafkovsky. I would rather trade our draft pick, move back to number 3, than draft slafkovsky. He might be great, but he seems like a massive project with limited playing time. If he was 16 I would be more interested, I'm just not sold with his hockey clips.

Frankie Gagnon saying that at the hotel, he’s heard from NHL folks that Habs were going to pick Slaf.
I bet the habs management was just screaming ''WE ARE GONNA PICK SLAF'' in the middle of the lobby. Frankie is getting delusional nowdays.

Also I heard from a plumber that had a job in Hugues house in Montreal that he sneaked in his office and saw on a paper #1 Shane Wright. Trust me bro
