My inkling is MTL has no major preference

I think MTL takes Slaf unless NJ proves thats who they want.

I dont think Hughes and Co see a big enough difference if they can get another asset from a team to secure who they want

Its all posturing. Push comes to shove, it will be Slaf. If NJ comes with another high pick to secure Slaf, Hughes trades down

I feel like im going full Dreger

I can't help but feel we're going to F this up. 😕
Probably as usual. why pick a center #1 bpa when you can take the winger who has a huge potential with a low % of success compared to the other top picks of the draft.

Smells Puuljarvi all over again. Ill legit lose my shit if we pick Slaf. More wingers let'S go!
Lets play Evans in the top 6!!!

What would ruin your draft night? For me, it would be drafting slafkovsky. I would rather trade our draft pick, move back to number 3, than draft slafkovsky. He might be great, but he seems like a massive project with limited playing time. If he was 16 I would be more interested, I'm just not sold with his hockey clips.
It probably wouldn't ruin my draft night but I would be a bit disappointed if they did take the winger Slafkovsky 1st.

Nothing against Slafkovsky but I just want one of the centers in Wright (my preferred pick) or Cooley because I'm sick of the Habs terrible center depth, which has been a huge issue for far too long now, and here's their chance to potentially fix that massive hole at center going forward.

why? he seems like a nice person.
Nice person has nothing to do with it.

I just don't see him being more than a 25-30 goal scorer, 60 pt winger. Only truly Elite Power Forwards are consistently more than that and I don't think he has the tools to be elite.

And you don't pass on Cooley and Wright for that. Another generational mistake IMO.

If it is Slaf, lets not condemn him right off the bat until we see him a few years. Everybody was calling Tkatchuk a bust before the draft and how'd that workout for you all?
Pretty sure most of the board was pissed at the fact we missed Brady over a guy that was projected to be between 10-20 in the draft due to a ''need'' that our GM couldnt even fix in 10 years.

Man these 17/18 year old boys must be loving Montreal if they’ve never been here. I mean summer in Montreal is on another level if you have raging hormones

...lol...yeah, I remember me and a bunch of the boys back in the 90's sitting at the Second Cup on St. Catherine's when they used to take the picture window out in the Summer and just watching...horny anglos on weekend passes...oh, the money we wasted...it was all worth it...

It is starting to feel like Slaf is the pick. Nothing wrong with this IMO. If you imagine the ideal player that could fit on a line with Suzuki and Caufield, it would be something like Slaf. Wright is a balanced player, but I'm not sure he has enough energy/speed/tenacity in his game to break through and be a real difference maker at the NHL level. Slaf, with his hands and strength, will be hard to contain. Assuming Dubois ends up in Mtl via free agency in a few years, passing on Wright and Cooley does not seem to be the end of the world. There is also next year's draft, which should give us another chance at a center if Dubois does not sign with the Habs.

I have a small preference for Wright over Slaf. But I know Slaf is not Puuljarvi. I’ve reviewed video of both players head to head and the only thing Puuljarvi was close to Slaf was skating. Everything else Slaf looked a notch above.

Nope. Most were calling him a bust and even nicknamed him Tkabust saying he couldn't skate and all.

Meh Rangers and Avs do ok with having a QB on the backend
Yeah let's forget Kadri Mackinnon Landy , Rantanen , Buro , Toews , Girard , Byram , Newhook.

Yeah the Rangers that got a free player in Fox because he wanted to play for NYR.
It's not like they had the best goalie of the season and hell of an offensive team this season also.

Cmon man

If you trade 1OV for Columbus' picks, you get Savoie and Geekie, two players with the same upside as Wright for the price of one. They are already teammates too, you send them back and they will build even more chemistry! Maybe that's too risky; really, I'm fine with whoever they pick. Slaf has the neck of a horse and the smile of someone who knows something you don't, Wright is a prodigy, a génie en herbe.

All 3 picks will be good players.
One will end up being better than the others but who knows if MTL is right environment for them to reach that potential.
No matter what, we will get a solid piece and I trust HuGo to pick the right player for us here.
No point in stressing, just enjoy the ride.

- thank you for your time and consideration
