So Cooley doesn't have anything scheduled with the Habs since Buffalo.

So either its the biggest smokescreen of all time and Cooley is their guy (unlikely) or its down to Wright and Slafkovsky,

With the amount of due diligence done on Wright vs. Slafkovsky. I think Shane Wright is the pick.

The meeting with Slaf is very confusing though. I really hope they go for Wright but I have my doubts… Could be to put pressure on NJD but does NJ really care ?

Yeah France is weird with anglicisms. Like “parking” instead of staionnement. “Email” instead of courriel. I mean you get that here sometimes, but it’s more prevalent there.

They don't say parking. They say par-quingue.

Did you know that in the french dictionary, they have the word Ticheurte, which stands for Tshirt. I kid you f***ing not.

Just watched the TSN video. Dreger said nobody knows what the Habs are doing and simply said people are speculating that Molson could get involved with the pick. That's not news at all.

Surely Molson will let his hockey ops dept led by his brand new VP and GM duo pick their guy after all the time and energy this group has put into this pick.

Nothing Dreger ever says is news. The guy's had one good source in his whole life: Dave Nonis. That's about it.

Anything (at least Habs related) he ever says is "Well that could happen. Or it could not happen. Who knows" but spun in a two minute soundbite to get clicks.

There's probably a few things they are sticking on as part of their evaluation that they want to get Slafkovsky's opinion on.. and there's also the pressure on NJ who would want Slafkovsky over a center.

They are also trying to build suspense, as well.

There's a bunch of reasons for it but none of them are really anything to care about in the end. I think signs are pointing to Wright.

If I’m the owner of a team and my GM, Assistant GMs, scouts, invite me to help them make a selection, I’d fire them all on the spot.

There is no way they are picking Geoff’s brain on this. Just silly.

Probably covering up for Vinny's gaf of talking about how often they've been in contact with Wright and not the other two. Hughes was quick to mention they might meet with the others before the draft. Hughes playing the have line a seasoned pro.... and Vinny the inexperienced new guy?

I could only see them picking Slaf if they have a deal in place for lets say PLD or they think another center could be picked later that's comparable or close to Wright.

...not to mention pointless; how long would it take for them to get tired of the echo coming back from his empty head??...:sarcasm:

Increasingly seems like Wright is the guy. Really hope MSL can get him back to playing with a bit more heart and dynamism. You're super talented Wright! It's okay to drive play and make an impact on the ice.

He gets the odd scoop (I believe he was the first one to tweet that Weber was getting traded to Vegas) but his ratio of speculation to scoops is horrid. When McKenzie has something to say, there's alway merit.

Agree about McKenzie, which kind of unnerves me because his scouts have us picking Slaf.

I know the process behind that was kinda flawed but I'd feel a lot better about them choosing Wright if he would have confirmed it.
