It’s not nearly as bad as Woj and Shams in the NBA. Great for trade breaking but nauseating for the draft. Kind of incredible to have that level of sources though.
Wasnt that like BRUTAL one year, there was always an agreement that they wouldn't spoil draft picks then someone did and WOJ Went offfffffff

I get a vibe from Pronman that he often thinks he's the smartest guy in the room. So it's no surprise to me that he'd take the darkhorse so he could be one of the minority at the end going "See? Look how smart I am. Told you."

Could be way offbase but I've been an Athletic subscriber for a couple of years and that's just the vibe I get.

He is a joke!

I subscribe to the Athletic for other reasons than hockey and find his articles borderline offensive.....they are that stupid and entirely devoid of even rudimentary scouting acumen. The fact that anyone would cite this guys brainless mutterings as being remotely relevant is always shocking.

Wheeler, Basu and Godin are also entirely useless.......they should just dump the entire lot and start over. I have yet to gain one iota of insight from any of them. Can they not find someone with real life hockey experience who can identify the truth that eludes both old school dinosaurs and whiny stat nerds.

The Lavoie statement is interesting. Though a bit of hyperbole to say you’d fall out of your chair if the #1 rated prospect is taken 1st.

Also should have stopped while he was ahead. To say it’s an advantage to draft Slafkovsky because he can play in the AHL makes no sense to me.
You know everything's been said when we're debating the virtue of LH vs RH shot and the benefit of starting in the AHL for a 1st OA pick lmao.

That said, I thought the Lavoie statement had already been put to rest. He doesn't have the same inside info into the org since MB and co were booted out.

The fact he mentions expectations is the final nail for me. What a load of bull, you don't base your 1OA selection on whether the guy reached some arbitrary expectations (that will vary from person to person).
You look at the full profile and body of work and projections based on skills. A debate can be had there (as we've seen here) but saying it would be a huge surprise to see Wright go 1OA because he didn't have a McDavid-like season or something is ridiculous.

How would you feel about picking Slafkovsky and Geekie by moving up (more realistic than Lekkerimaki)?

Geekie has a certain Jagr quality. He'll probably go in the range we're more likely to trade up for.

Him and Slaf would make for a terrific duo of giants for a future 2nd line.

And Geekie could become a star. Criticisms of his lack of effort reminds me of Getzlaf.

Here's our big center.
