A sad and unfortunate turn of events for this young man who was slated to selected fairly early in the upcoming NHL Entry Draft. I wish him a full recovery, a long/healthy life and that he can continue his hockey career at some point:

I'd definitely like the Rangers to pick him with one of their earlier draft choices if he's still on the board. The team can definitely ensure he'd be well provided for on the medical front, and he could end up being a steal depending when he's picked. (Could never play a game of hockey again, but at one point he was viewed as potentially #2 in the class)

The problem is he may be off the ice for a year or longer and he might end up a completely different player. The prognosis should be good if they caught it early enough and being young should be helpful too. Anyway no way I’d use our 1st on him. I’d want to have a clear idea of his treatment and prognosis before committing to drafting him early at all—talking about our two 2nd’s now. With where the world is at the moment that might not be as easy now as it was a couple weeks ago.

from what tthey said he's in germany getting treatment, which is better than russia.

Honestly, this is the one guy Drury should go after among UDFAs. Meyers is a center so this fanbase will be drooling all over him
Seems like the middle 6 center this team desperately needs. Meyers centering the 3rd line at some point in the future would really help other players slot into better positions. If he is considering the Rangers, he has to see that he has opportunities available to him. If he was a winger, there would be less opportunity.

Two local prospects I came across that maybe the Rangers would be interested in this draft:
Devin Kaplan RW (R), 6'3, 198. Did pretty well in the USNTDP and USHL, he's on his way to Boston University. I know wing isn't a need at this time but he'd have a few years to develop in a great program. Considered a power forward with a decent mix of toughness and scoring. It's tough to figure out where he's ranked, one mock draft has him late in the 1st round, most have him in the 2nd with a few in the 3rd.
He's from Bridgewater, NJ, and grew up a Rangers fan. With two 2nd rd picks he could be worth drafting.
Jeremy Wilmer, C (L) was passed over in last year's draft. Another Boston Univ commit, previously with Tri City (USHL). Shifty and good puck skills. The Rockville Centre native is a bit undersized (5'8, ~145), some sources say he's likely to get drafted in the later rounds.

Wish there was a way to snag Michkov. Like, anti-Russia attitudes due to the war and the fact that he's staying in the KHL for a while.

Trade up and get him. Winning.

He's not in this draft, and I don't think any of that will stop him from going 2nd overall next year

are there any early-mid round Russian picks that could fall to us? Like a Miroshnichenko
