this seemed odd to me, but maybe not so much [... when i saw it i immediately thought of Trevigno ...
he is 25, i assume a grad-student transfer,
this was his only UMass season
played 3 seasons at Dartmouth, Ivies did not play ECAC Hockey last season,

UMass is 12th in Pairwise and 2 seed in Hockey East tourney

Better off just getting a nice career with his degree than get paid 40K in the ECHL.

FYI re Trivigno
Bobby Trivigno at eliteprospects.com

Long Island kid,
played at Shattuck for 3 years (more than 60 points in less than 60 games, each season, at age\competitive appropriate levels)
a year in USHL
then 4 seasons at UMass (125 Pts/135GP)
just turned 23 in Jan'22

If we keep our late 1st round pick this year, this is the player I would like to the NYR to pick we don't move up. Moving up in the rankings, great skater, superb vision, shot, extreme playmaker.

David Goyette at eliteprospects.com

The Analysis: A deep look at David Goyette's game

2020 OHL Priority Selection: David Goyette – Ontario Hockey League

11. Sudbury Wolves – David Goyette

“David is one of the elite offensive players in his age group. He has a great understanding of how to create offense for both himself and his team mates. Although many see him as a goal scorer and nothing but, he has proven all year that he has very good vision as well. He is most dangerous on the power play when he has the puck on his stick, and he has good timing with regards to when to attack and when to be patient. Today’s game is about skill and speed; David has both and will make an impact at the next level.”

I’ll be shocked if we see Drury invest in Russians in the early rounds in the foreseeable future.

Drury/Martin are going to be all over the USNTDP going forward. Probably a good idea because we've historically done very well drafting American-born players who go the college route.

An interesting player for sure, though based on his rankings, we might be able to get him in the 2nd.

Another player I was looking at is Logan Morrison. Ontario Hockey League – Official Site of the Ontario Hockey League

80 points in 45 games. He plays for Hamilton, the best team in the league, but he's also the top scorer on his team by a significant margin. The 2nd place player has 60 points in 49 games. Hamilton is as good as they are in large part due to his play.

Morrison is a double over-ager. He was passed over in the 2020 draft despite putting up 45 points in 59 games in his draft year. He didn't play anywhere last year, it seems, due to the OHL covid shutdown, so it's no real surprise that he got passed over again in 2021. He doesn't turn 20 until July 9th, so I think he's still draft eligible in 2022.

Right-handed center, listed at 6 foot, 180 lbs. He can go right into the AHL and should (theoretically) be NHL ready sooner than most other players we might pick. I can't see him not being drafted this year, but the question will be when.

Othman’s teammate Riley Piercey worth a mid round pick??

Nice prospect and I wouldn't mind. Following Othmann closely he has caught my eye but the same goes for Jagger Firkus (Korczak's teammate).

It would be on point for the Rangers to go for Pano Fimis though. High talent prospect who dropped but was a top-3 pick in juniors.

Fimis seems like a good option in the 2nd or 3rd. Doesn't seem like his offense has shown up as much as hoped. Sounds like he has a strong 2-way game. Maybe a future as a 3C?

Meyers and you can add McBain too. I'd like Drury to be aggressive and go after both of them.
McBain not available until August 15. Meyers and Minnesota will be in the NCAA playoffs that start next weekend. Playoffs announced this weekend. A few teams are finished and players available. Boston signed BC center Marc McLaughlin (#5 on Chris Peters' list and 16 on Corey Pronman's) and Pittsburgh signed Princeton winger Corey Andonovski (#6 on Chris Peters' list.)

You would think that center would be a point of emphasis. McBain (if he doesn't sign with Minnesota) and Meyers are the top available centers.

There was a rumor that the Rangers were interested in signing a free agent goalie. Some names to consider are Clay Stevenson, Dartmouth (Pronman #18 and Peters HM) and Brandon Bussi, Michigan Tech (Peters HM and Pronman #10).

Most of the top NCAA free agents will be in the playoffs until their teams lose so action on them is at least two weeks away.

Gotcha. These moves would be aside from any that might take place by this weekend.
Honestly, I'd just want to know if Drury is targeting either or both McBain and Meyers. Can't see how they aren't being the cost is an entry level contract and a 2nd round pick in the case of McBain.

Bobby Trivigno of U. Mass also will be available when his playoffs are over. Chris Peters listed him as a left wing while Corey Pronman has him as a center.

Minnesota reportedly shopping the rights to McBain. If he is traded it is very likely there will be an agreement for him to sign in place. So he might not make it to August 15.

Please explain
Meyers has been pretty consistent with his play and improvement. McBain gives me Vesey vibes. I would easily do a free agent contract, but not a first if the price is going up. Meyers is a free agent I believe.

I haven's seen either player so take no position on who would be better. But to dshae19's point, here is McBain's college career.

He exploded this year. Did he get better or is he taking advantage of being older and stronger?
