Still want snipers. Looking at the Mäki's. Lekkerimäki specially, alitough he'll be a top 15 pick.

Man that Kemell kid is having himself a year so far. 18 gp 12g 6a as a 17yo in Liiga. That looks like some record breaking type shit.

Yay, this thread is active again. The last few years, the draft has been one of the things i've enjoyed following the most

Kemell is on track to break records for goals (Kakko), points (Barkov) and P/GP (Granlund) among players in their draft-year in Liiga.

Where does everything think Lambert will land? I'm hoping he's a dropper and somehow NYR can snag him if they keep their first or somehow he drops to the 2nd like Ratu last season

Just wondering, with no or limited major junior hockey last year, sill we get a higher % of overagers this year? Thinking of players with no or little exposure last year that in a normal year have a very good draft year and shoot up the rankings.
This might make this draft even stronger.

Ryan Chesley was highly touted out of that NTDP program, the offense really isn't there this year but I wouldn't be overly concerned about that, he still is a great skating high iq defender. Button has him at 44. He's definitely under some pressure from this draft class to be pushed out of the first round. I would love to grab him with one of our seconds if we can.

Marco Kasper is another name to watch. Good skater good size, but can he put the offense together? He plays a power game and goes hard to the net. Button has him at 29.

Can anyone tell me about Tye Kartye? He's a double over-ager, currently leading the OHL in goals and goals per game. 14 of his 21 goals have come on the PP, but he only has 1 PP assist. Is he the OHL version of Kreider (10 PPG 1 PPA).

He's listed at 6'1, 199 lbs. He put up 25 goals and 53 points in 64 games in his draft year. It's surprising to me that he didn't get drafted based on those numbers.

He was invited to the Kraken's training camp this year, but didn't stand out I guess. I can't find a single comment about him on the Seattle board. And there's nothing about him on the Prospect board.

What am I missing with this guy?

Edit: Also, he is listed as a LW, but he has taken a significant amount of faceoffs in his OHL career. In 151 games, he has taken 979 faceoffs and won 557 of them (56.9%). This year he has taken 151 faceoffs and won 97 of them (64.2%).

Edit2: He's actually a triple over-ager I guess. He was first eligible for the draft in 2019, so his bump in points didn't come until after. That explains why he wasn't drafted. He had some buzz as a late round pick in 2020 that didn't materialize. Age and size are probably significant contributors to his success, but he could also be a late bloomer.

He plays for the highest scoring team in the league (106 goals in total) so that might affect his production a bit. I haven't really paid attention to him that much and am not a big OHL follower aside from Othmann, Vierling and Cuylle's games.

Yeah, I don't watch the OHL games. Was just checking out Othmann's numbers and Kartye caught my eye.

Players I have my eyes on for a Rangers pick in the 20s:

Frank Nazar (C/RW)
Noah Ostlund (C)
Marco Kasper (C)
Denton Mateychuk (LHD)
Simon Forsmark (LHD)

Nazar is my top target. I think he’s a natural center offensively. If he can bulk up a bit, I think he stays there. The numbers aren’t through the roof but he has the most pure skill of any USA prospect.

I have them all in my top 15 and think there’s a good chance 2-3 fall to the 20s.

Nazar is my favorite pick in this draft, but there's no way he's going to be in the 20s if he keeps playing like this. He's showing that he can be a full-time C for the USNTDP, and he's been making some unreal plays at really high pace in recent weeks.

It'd be a miracle if we could come away with one of Howard, McGroarty, or Nazar this year.
