Well, I used to try and attend EU games throughout the year but f***ing COVID messed that up
Lol yeah I have noticed over the years that you had done that, also that you used work as a way to catch games too right? I think I replied to you in the past and asked advice, some day I'd like to do a trip through Europe and just try to catch a few games.

I try to do the same thing with work, was at an Avs game against the Blues in the playoff. In fact I had a great view of Kadri taking Faulk's head off. I could do some more college games if I tried which I probably will as I settle into adulthood. Last game I was at was Wisco vs Boston College when Wisco was staaaacked big time. Key looked pro ready then and I sat right in his zone for 2 periods. College guys were helpless coming down that side. I wasn't very sold on Wahlstrom after that game but I see at least a 20 goal scorer in that kid. Being in upstate NY isn't a bad spot to catch cawlidge hawckey.

I have the luxury of having a close friend within NBC send me videos when he works on the draft. With NBC not on contract anymore with the NHL it will be tougher for me to get a handle on the quality stuff.

Usually, prospect shift-by-shift videos are great to view if you can find them on YouTube or scouting sites. I know before the pandemic there was a perfect site called prospectshifts.com (I think that's what it was called at least) that had a big catalog of shift-by-shift videos, but the domain went under. This group on YouTube provided some decent game footage on prospects for the 2021 draft too. Hopefully they can continue for the 2022 class.

All-in-all it will be tough to find on normal consumer experience, but eventually, someone comes along and provides video on the topic.
I can't say I'm mad the NHL is leaving NBC, but that is unfortunate for you. Obviously you have a great and seasoned take on the prospects/draft side of the hockey world, that extra insight was probably gold to you!

Well... I do have a good amount of connections within the hockey world, but I'll keep them to myself. :thumbu:

Yeah, my previous job involved a lot of traveling to Sweden, Finland and the Czech Republic.

A potential early riser candidate to watch out for is Nathan Gaucher. Defensive-minded forward with a good knack at the faceoff dot. He was nominated for the Guy Carbonneau award as the top defensive forward in the QMJHL. I'm just curious to see how far he can go offensively.

tier wise, is it correct to say Wright is like a Lafreniere and Bedard is McDavid level? Where's Michkov at? Is he Oveckkin/Malkin good?

Time to start trading cap space for 2023 1sts :)

Bedard/Michkov can be that new modern Crosby/Ovechkin definitely.

So, interesting story... 17-year old Jack Hughes (2003 born) is Riley Hughes' younger brother.

I just spoke to Riley on the phone for my prospect interview series and he mentioned his brother will play on his team this upcoming season and I was baffled it was Jack. Eliteprospects doesn't have them listed as brothers, but I will put in a request to have them update that.

Thought it would be fun to share.

I'm really liking this draft class. Not looking forward to Drury trading away any of our top 64 picks. Marco Kasper with one of our seconds please.

Us drafting Jack and him ending up better than the other Jack would be amazing.

Chaz Lucius' brother Cruz is draft eligible this year. Plays similarly to his brother. Likely to be in the range of the Rangers' pick. Other names to look for include Noah Ostlund, Markus Vidicek, Nathan Gaucher, all center that can be in range when the Rangers pick.

This is a very strong USNTP crop. Cooley, McGroarty, Jack Hughes II, Nazar, Howard, Chesley, Casey, and Devine all have a good chance of going top 15 next June. First three are center prospects that will likely be out of NYR's range barring a catastrophe.

McGroarty is a personal favorite of mine.

Reminds me a lot of Getzlaf at the same age.

I’m gonna be leading the Noah Östlund hypetrain for this draft. He’s off to another incredible start this season, and I think he’s trending towards being a premier two-way player. I didn’t get to watch him at the Hlinka this year, but I think he’ll be one of the breakout players from this WJC

Incredibly talented player.

He's an incredibly disruptive player who keeps other teams on their heels because he of his anticipation and hustle. It's not just that he reads the play well, he also keeps a good pace.

McGorarty would fit like a Glove. I believe Im also on page 1 stating my interest in Ostlund. The reality of it and I hate to say it, even if we miss the playoffs bc of depth in the East, you're getting a group of very good players sitting at 16. This draft reminds me of 2015 in terms of quality, which is one of the reasons Ive been talking the point of not being in a rush to trade for that 2c.

I was checking out Cuylle's highlights from last night and wondering if anyone else on the Spitfires might be on the Rangers' radar.

Kyle McDonald, born the same day as Cuylle, has the same amount of points in the same number of games. The OHL website lists him at 6'5" 216 lbs. It looks like he didn't play anywhere last year, and his numbers the year before that weren't any better than his rookie season. If anything, he may have regressed. He's doing well this year though. We often like to take kids who were passed over in previous drafts. Maybe he's someone the Rangers have their eyes on.

Another guy I was looking at is Ethan Miedema. He's not draft eligible until 2023, but he's got 14 points in 18 games, and is listed at 6'4" 201 lbs.

LW Ethan Miedema - Windsor Spitfires, OHL (2023 Draft)
