Y'all think our med staff is bad, what about whatever the f*** happened to let Tua play tonight.

Jesus.
Between this, some of the messes in Washington with players openly ripping the medical team, and the Tyrod Taylor situation where the guy's STILL gainfully employed with the Chargers, NFL teams seem to be next-level bad in this area.

They just said he will be discharged tonight and is expected to travel back with the team. Wow.
Wasn’t that game in Cincy last night?

I remember a bunch of years ago the Mets caught a bunch of flak for flying a guy who had a concussion. Apparently thats a no-no.

Yep...it was Ryan Church

The Mets have been criticized for rushing Church back. He was used as a pinch hitter two days later and didn't go on the disabled list until June 10. In the meantime, he endured a miserable flight with the team to Colorado and its thin air, exacerbating his post-concussion symptoms.

I don't understand how they discharged him that quickly
This is extremely suspicious and my paranoid ass thinks the NFL itself had something to do with that.

I'm not the type to get outraged at what happens in sports. Hell, I can't manage to get outraged about much of anything these days. But this whole incident makes me feel disgusted towards the league and the sport as a whole, to the point where I'm hesitant to even pay attention to the scores this Sunday.

Not watching but googled it given your post.

Some guy Chris Nowinski was ripping the league pregame for letting Tua play. And then that happens.

Yeah, I had never heard about the guy prior to last night but he's got quite the interesting bio as an "American neuroscientist and author. Co-founder and CEO of the Concussion Legacy Foundation, and co-founder of the Boston University CTE Center, he is also a former professional wrestler with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE)."

Here's what he tweeted prior to the game and after the play:

The league needs to stop playing Thursday night games. Keep the Thanksgiving games but make sure the teams that play are coming off a bye week.

I get where you're coming from, the short rest weeks must be brutal. But 3 extra days in between wouldn't have made this better.

It seems pretty clear that Tua had a concussion in last week's game, and if he didn't then, he certainly does now. And yet I'd put it at even odds that they play him again next week. The NFL is run by sociopaths.

No chance Tua plays next week.

Wouldn't be surprised if we don't see him again this season.

Miami has built a little buffer but if they want to stay afloat Slylar Thompson should be the QB. He opens up the playbook with his arm strength.

I say 6 games at least. With 2 bad looking concussions under his belt, and a ton of media scrutiny, they will be extra cautious.

I will gladly take the under.

by the way I am not saying I disagree with what you're saying, either.

meh I love Skyler but I think people are too quick with this. He looked great in the pre season but that was against backups and vanilla coverages.

I don't like Teddy B, but he is probably a top 5 backup QB going right now. If he can go .500 in his games I think we will be okay. Dolphins schedule is pretty soft coming up.

Teddy is a competent if unspectacular QB with a decent track record. He can win regular season games. He makes a lot of sense as thr guy to play for now.

the protocols should definitely have been stricter to begin with.

I think if a player shows those signs and then are confirmed to have a concussion, they should obviously be out of that game AND the next game, no questions asked. Re-evaluate after that.

NFL says they care about safety but they don't. We all know all they care about is $$$, or else things like Thursday Night football wouldn't exist.
