Yeah Bill's swearing off technology after that one lol, this kills a team and ownership he still ostensibly has a soft spot for.

The question's gonna be what did Bill know and when did he know it, but there's so much other stuff in this it's mind-boggling. Like the throwing games accusation, or the supposed sham of an interview with Denver in 2019.

The Belichick texts are funny lol.

Wow, that's ridiculous. I'm sure that must make the players and staff on that Dolphins team feel great.

And Belichick somehow being involved with this is hilarious, because... of course he is. There's shady doings afoot, so of course the Sith Lord is part of it!

Funny how this got leaked the day of Brady's retirement too, it takes a lot to get Brady off the front page but this should do it.

Nah it just plays into the 'he's difficult to work with' narrative in Miami.

I started to read the Complaint. I don't doubt he is correct that the NFL hasn't done enough to improve diversity in front office hiring. That said, I think his point with the Dolphins is weak. They hired him. How can that be bad? He is essentially alleging he was fired because they wanted to tank and he wouldn't do it. I don't love the idea of tanking but if he brushed off the owner and management on that issue I don't doubt they wanted someone more pliable. That's a personal integrity issue to me, not a racial issue.

The other issue is that I think his attorneys are throwing him under the bus for their own personal gain. They smell a payday if they can get past the Motions to Dismiss and then the Motions for Summary Judgment. I'm struggling to see another team giving Flores a chance. Maybe Flores is ok with that because of the bigger picture issue, but I ams skeptical those lawyers really told him that in no uncertain terms.

I also have to wonder if this opens up a can of worms with the implications for sports betting. If it can be proven that owners are intentionally tanking games (or even unsuccessfully trying to)...

Also kind of puts paid to the whole notion of "these are professional, proud athletes, they'd never tank" when the owner is angling for a higher draft spot and putting pressure on the coach to that effect. Can't be the first time it's happened, either in the NFL or in other professional leagues.

I don't think it was leaked, filing a suit in court is pretty public (unless there's a reason for it to be filed under seal, but this doesn't qualify).

My guess is the suit was strategically timed to coincide with the start of Black history month and after Daboll was officially hired. Just a coincidence it overlapped with the Brady drama.

I've been involved in hiring processes where the person getting the job was already picked out ahead of time. The company policies required us to bring in people from the outside to be interviewed even when an internal promotion was happening.

The real question is whether Flores was the only one left to interview, or were there other non-minority coaches left when Bill sent that to Flores. With that said, they are never going to fix it completely. You can't make someone hire a person. I'm not even sure if any rules were broken since the rule says they must interview and doesn't say interview "before a decision". But like I said, they will pick who they want anyway.

I think the $100,000 per tank loss is worse because it's throwing games, but the the interviewing process will definitely look worse to the public.

I'm reading the complaint too. Another issue is that whichever clownshoes lawyers Flores hired can't cite case law properly. These jokers seriously cited Plessy v Ferguson, claiming that decision "banned segregation in places of public accommodation" when it infamously did the exact opposite. Plessy v goddam Ferguson!

I'm sympathetic to his argument, because this situation is clearly bullshit and he got screwed over by both the Dolphins and the Giants, but come on now. That's basic lawyer shit and f***ing it up it undermines his case.

Because they are just trying for attention and a payday. Clearly they aren’t versed in actual civil rights law. I feel bad for Flores who may never coach again.

So the Washington Football Team is now the Commanders.

My first reaction is: Meh, whatever.

I really liked the Washington Football Team name. It fits the 'no nonsense' narrative that is used to describe tough football teams. The W logo also worked well with it.

Hopefully they can do better than Cleveland. Every time I see them I think its a minor league baseball team.
At least they have a built in Tank Commander nickname set up already.

If it's Commanders they should keep the same colors but go with the NJ Generals old helmet:

Still one of the best helmet logos ever.

I'd be curious if Bellichick is angry at Flores for outing his mistakes. I have to believe that if Flores could have done this without smearing a fellow coach he would have been best served by putting that behind closed doors. Maybe redact the text picture if absolutely necessary to use it as an exhibit. Still, the tanking thing doesn't seem to turn on a diversity issue. I still see that as simply personal integrity, but it does lend some credence to the idea that the analytics back up tanking. Hard to see owners just going that route without some data suggesting they should.

You would think flores would have waited to file suit AFTER all the vacant hc spots were filled

He was supposed to interview today with NO Saints higher ups but this morning he was on ESPN with his lawyers. Maybe he got on a plane after that? It really was sad watching him on ESPN. He was so sincere and his lawyers struck me as such ambulance chasers.

I didn’t see it yet, I’m not discrediting any of his claims but the timing of it seems off ? There’s still multiple Hc openings and he’s currently in the running for two of Them as a finalist. I think it would have been a better tactic to wait until you were completely shunned out by all 10 teams looking for a hc and file a lawsuit based on 1/3rd of the league basically not hiring you
