Yes, but that’s obviously not the reason to anyone who has seen them play this season and seen the players who made it over them
Based on the two camp games and limited viewings last season this is how I'd have Canada's roster

Kiviharju, Muhonen, Väisänen, Saarelainen and Rimpinen are 2006 born. (2024 draft)
Also Vinni and Hynninen are late 2005 born. (2024 draft)

He’s a really good transitional, two way D with very good footwork and confidence with the puck. Can really elude pressure and move the puck well. He’ll be a lock in the teams top 4 imo
I thought of all the players with the most noise around them, Yager was one who left me wanting more the most. Wasn’t bad per se but didn’t create like I thought he would. Had trouble getting his shot around blockers and sticks. Still makes the team no doubt as i expect him to get better here. Still an impressive collection of tools. Barlow was quiet but still had some nice moments and he’s a guy you can’t leave behind imo, can break a game open with one shot and he’s a load to handle along the wall and down low. This team has a really nice blend of size throughout, some really clever smaller skilled players and bigger kids that bring a dynamic game as well.
Same D core I’d have as well. Bonk I thought had a good camp, he’s got a lot of upside

I think the problem with Yager this time is that he doesn't match up with his teammates. In Ozone, he shots without thinking, even though shot may not be the best option and is not a threat. He also didn't put enough pressure on the opposing Dmen, which is his strength in the league. But it's summer, and it's normal not to be at your best. He will be fine.

I know Bedard is playing U20 and rightly so but he would still be eligible for this team?

Yes, I believe there is 3 players who are 2005 born that are missing Hlinka for the WJC
Yeah for sure, I like him a lot still, too many intriguing tools to not. I just want to see him use his linemates more often, which will open up shooting lanes for him too. I thought he’d have a little more creativity to his game but I recognize that isn’t his bread and butter. But yeah utilizing his speed to push the D back is something he can do more of. I’m sure he’ll have a good tournament as the 2 or 3C.
Really surprised to see Miedema and Peddle left off, especially peddle who I thought was lights out in game 1. To me he looks like a potential first rounder for this years draft, big and aggressive kid with an elite shot. Skating isn’t great but not horrible either. But still a very deep forward core to try and crack. Could take all the F‘a and D cut here and make a very good 2nd team

Sweden Will probably release their squad tomorrow or on wednesday, as long as Otto Stenberg, Lindstein and Kalle Carlsson will be playing im happy.
Canadas squad is just insane, i dont expect a win agaisnt them but we should atleast give them a challenge.. in april our 05 won the 3 nations tournament home in sweden so we should be in the race for semifinal

No Dragicevic is downright shocking, as he is one of Team Canada’s “guys” and is simply one of the best defensemen of this age group. Aside from that, looks good.

CHL and Hockey Canada bet on Yager, gave him all the credit. Even if he went through a tough selection camp, they gave him "A". I wish he had given broadcasters more to say, rather than just repeating his title. Although he is rookie of the year, the other candidates are no worse.
But he definitely has high potential and will be fine.
