Only one projected 2023 1st-rounder on the roster afaik - Quentin Musty. Will certainly be a big challenge against a stacked Canadian team.

Looking forward to seeing Benson on Team Canada. Had to play in the shadow of Savoie and Geekie somewhat in Winnipeg. Could be his coming out party.
Take any list you see now with a massive grain of salt. Most online consensus lists aren’t going to be close to accurate a year from now. Brad Lambert was in everyone’s top 10 last summer

Almost everyone posting in this forum knows that. Part of the fun is watching those lists change.

Oh, man, is this great or what? Almost like being in the rink.

Oh wow. Even the third division WJC manages to provide a livestream, but somehow Hlinka tournament cannot do that. Better be the last time Canada gets to host this if this is the level of coverage they'll provide

Or maybe Hockey Canada just cannot afford the camera equipment after settling so many sexual assault cases and losing their sponsors :help:

Yes i agree that young prospects stagnate. I am interested Whats the reason for that because i think meier usw had worse conditions to train. One reason is definitely that NLA clubs don’t let their young players train/play with their pro team to get them accustomed to higher speed than the U20 elit. Of course the foreigners rule doesn’t help this. And maybe the quantity of practice/games they have. I followed Bichsel’s stats closely and he had a game almost every day. And almost always 3 on a weekend. And i know swedish u20 teams have 2 practices every day except 1-2 days a week. If you go to a „sport school“ in Switzerland you have max. 3 morning practices. Disregarding pratice with first squad in the morning. I feel like this can be a factor too. Warch bichsel who improved heavily in sweden with this type of hockey lifestyle.

Yes the lack of profesionalism and the obstacles of our dual education system certainly have an effect. In an interview this fall Joshua Fahrni said that he had only started to take nutrition seriously this summer and that he made a nutrition plan for the first time in his life. Of course this had a huge impact on his performance. But you have to take this sort of things more seriously from an even earlier age. I know Marco Rossi had his own personal trainer and a skating coach when he was still in Zürich. But as you said the swiss education system doesnt give the players a lot of room to focus on hockey.
