Nothing has changed on Dumais' projection. If there's one thing the Habs didn't need to add more of.. it's undersized scoring forwards with skating issues.

Same concerns I have. Great offensive guy in the Q and his skating looks OK for Q standards but when you are drafting for the NHL and looking at smaller players, they need to have very very very good skating. He has a long road to be a top 6F in the NHL.

This guy doesn’t get enough love.

If it was 2016, he would be obsessed due to a poor pool. With a deep pool, he falls through the cracks. I like it cause I want more surprises

Dumais has skill and great vision but the red flag is his skating. For a smaller type player, his skating is not good enough. Looks good in the Q though. Yeah, he can improve his skating right? Possible but not probable but we will see.

I like Dumais a lot but when you draft smaller players, ensure they skate very well. Not sure if he can improve his skating in the years to come. Turning pro will be a humble experience for him IMO.

Caufield may be smart, quick and agile, but he is not super fast. You don't always need to be. Anthony Richard is very fast, so is Matthew Peca.

I'm believe there is some chance that Dumais becomes another Toffoli-type Is it 20% chance or 40% chance or higher? I don't know.

Yeah, he's basically Corey Locke.

Maybe he can overcome the skating issues. Most small players can't.

Oh and by the way Engstrom can play on the right side. Getting interesting! Watched him play earlier, had a very strong game.

It is very weird that Dumais makes the headline here in that topic. Looks like both players will be compared for a while until one of the two or both becomes a pro player or a flop…lol. I guess it’s a Habs topic here I am sure that Dumais feels blessed to be signed by Columbus and not have to go through the Montreal pressure and bullying. His development will be much smoother under the radar in Ohio with fans and people that believes in him. I have no idea about our new D, but as much as we don’t need small offensive players that leads the CHL in scoring, we also do not need an average European D. But who knows, he might become better than most of our European D flops from the past 30 years.

He sure took a step, probably also the fact that he has been given a chance to show what he can do. He make it look effortless.

Suzuki and Caufield have both improved their quickness/speed over the years. Why Dumais can’t improve his? Good players adjust their game on every level of competition.

Like many european players, i think, especially defenceman.

But he is 6’1, 185 pounds and just turned 19 like 2 weeks ago. He’s not small so i guess he’ll get better with physical play in the next few years.

I really like Engstrom. Took a massive step this year, and seems like a very confident player, both on and off the ice. He is also really invested in his own development. This isn't a Norlinder. It's too early to have real projection, but I'm really looking forward to see him next training camp.

Before he recently returned to his SHL club after being with Team Sweden, he had played 22 games in the SHL/Champions League, 6 of those 22 he played under 10 mins and since returning all 6 games he's played over 12 mins and that was the first game back.
