So which continent are you in?:sarcasm:

On what continent is the city of Peoria in? That one.

Try to relax? You could say I'm already a pro(lapse) at it.

I think Logan Mailloux has the potential skill of Hutson
Plus Elite skating, elite shot and 10x's the Defense that Lane could only dream about .
Plus 6-3 220 lbs

The thing about Mailloux is how much did his lack of in-game time in his formative stage hinder his development?

Mailloux has become sort of a unicorn to some people around here. He wouldn’t be putting up the numbers Hutson is putting up right now in the NCAA. Hutson would he destroying the CHL, numbers would be similar to Ryan Ellis back in the day.

Mailloux is Mailloux. Hutson is Hutson.

But both have to keep developing, especially their defensive games, if they want to become good or especially great two way NHLers.

Meh, very different players. He's got the physical attributes and great skill, but he doesn't generate points in the same way, utilize the same skills, and is no better defensively. In fact, he might be weaker defensively in a weaker league.

They're both exceptional talents with a huge amount of work to get to the NHL - let alone play at an elite level if they get there. Very high ceiling, low floor type players and all we can do is hope that one/both of them find a way to overcome their deficiencies.

Mailloux can only dream to have Hutson’s offensive skills, smarts, IQ lol they’re not even close, at all.

10x the defense is also very hilarious

Hutson is younger, play in a better league and he is already better than Mailloux defensively. Seems like you’ve never seen them play.

I watch almost every video of Lane Hutson that @montreal posts but I thought I'd share this one here to use it as an example of some common themes I see in almost all of these videos.

1. Lane Hutson creates high danger chances at a rate much higher than his point total suggests. Every video there's cross seam passes, break away passes, plays started that create 2 on 1s, etc. that Hutson creates but his teammates can't convert. This video has 4 good examples [time stamp: 0:55, 6:15, 7:15, 14:48].

2. His main style of defending is to use his stick but I think that is changing. 1:25 is a good example of how he uses his stick to defend, but I think as he's been gaining size he's been adding more physicality to his defense. At 3:23 he physically engages a 6'1 198 lbs puck carrier into the boards and then pins and separates the puck and sends it back the other way. At 14:20 he hits a 5'11 187 lbs forward and knocks him down, but maintains his balance standing up. I don't expect physicality to be a big part of his game in the future, but I do expect a year from now physicality will be a bunch more prominent part of his game.

3. He breaks someones ankles at the blueline in every video. The best one in this video is at 1:45.

4. Puts up points in almost every video too. Assists are at 8:55 and 17:25. He's put up points in 17 of his 24 games this season. The last time he was held pointless was December 9th. You could argue the times he didn't put up points might have been as he was adjusting to the NCAA too.

I think he plays next year in the NCAA, signs at the end of his season, jumps on the team and never looks back. I can't see him spending any meaningful amount of time in the AHL. Maybe a couple games like Caufield did when he first signed but that's it.

He's going to be their #1 d man next year as I'm pretty sure Fensore is gone.

I just worry more about picking up some bad habits if he goes back for a 3rd year and is so above the competition there, then have to rectify those bad habits coming into the AHL.

He should be pretty close to as physically ready as he can be for AHL level at the end of next year, and if he isn't, he's gonna have to learn how to survive either way 'cause its unlikely he'll ever be strong enough. Two years post draft should be enough to have a significant improvement there.
"He's going to be their #1 d man next year as I'm pretty sure Fensore is gone."

What kind of ailment is Fensore and why does it last for so long? Is it a contagious ailment. Can Hutson give it to others? That could slow his progression toi the NHL...

This quote made me feel so much better about the potential for him to wait for UFA.

“It’s really exciting. There’s nothing I look forward to more than hopefully wearing that Montreal Canadiens jersey in the future,” said Hutson regarding his appreciation of the Canadiens and the fanbase."

Good little interview to read.

nicely done! :clap::thumbu:

Remember when there was no evidence whatsoever that Hutson could grow ? Constitutional delay in both his first degree male relatives and himself having a bone scan confirming it. But yeah, no chance whatsoever,

Note, there's a difference between no evidence whatsoever and no chance whatsoever.

When a player brings doctor's evidence to a draft combine, I take it with a grain of salt...

It's going to be really interesting to see what height he ends up being, and what weight is optimal for him. There's always a balance between bulking up to be able to handle the physicality of the game, and not bulking up too much in order to not slow oneself down.

His height is looking good in the clips I've seen. He still looks to have a slight frame.

He's almost the perfect size already, he just need to get stronger. I hope he stops growing before he gets too big or too tall.

He's playing today I think, gonna watch him for sure. It's going to be against Maine, last time they played Maine they won 9-6 and 5-1, so this should be fun.

Isn’t him saying his dad and his brother went through a growth spurt between 18 and 21 years old and showing that his doctor did test on him and told him he would get his growth spurt around the same age as them, actual evidences though?

It was pretty evident it was true just by watching him.

Yes, it is evidence. I just take it with a grain salt when it's presented to sell himself. But I never examined it carefully enough to have my own opinion on whether it was credible evidence or not - and if it was credible, what the likelihood was, that based on that evidence, that he would in fact grow significantly more, and more than is common for his age.

Would you say it's a fact if he hadn't. The reality is Family heights are all over the place.

My brother is 6'2, I'm 5'10 my dad was 5'8
My cousin is 6'4, his brother is 5'8 his dad is 5'6

Just because your brother and father are taller and grew at an age doesn't mean that you will. If we drafted hutson because we hoped he grow and not what we thought he'd be if he stayed the same height then yeah our drafting needs to be given a shake.

With that said hope he can get to 5'11 because we'd have an Adam Fox situation on our hands for sure.
