I feel like with his training camp, Beck could also have started in the NHL. He actually had a way better camp than Slaf, but size and drafting rank played a big part in the fact that Slaf is in the NHL right now, He should not be.

I like Beck, think he will be an nhler. But it's not like he's having a terrific year in the O. Maybe temper the expectations.

That said, I'd probably take Hutson ahead of just about anyone in the 2022 draft without much hesitation. Insane talent pool with clear room to improve and a shown ability to get better already.

I’d like to see him get up to at least 175lbs + before he makes the jump. No matter how shifty he is, He’ll get hit back there and should be dense enough to not get injured. How long does it take him to pack on 20lbs of muscle? 1 - 2 more years?

He'll go back for one more year and they'll focus on getting him stronger in the lower body, which should help some of the skating issues he does have.

I can't say I've seen a lot of Hutson but the games I saw at the WJC have me concerned. His offense is everything they say but his defense scares the bejesus out of me. He was constantly getting burned on the outside. Reminded me of the second coming of Juulsen. Also, he was terrible when the opposing team got a cycle going on in his end. If you guys are expecting an Eric Karlsson lite, okay but you better team him with a stud defensive d-man because this kid has serious troubles in his own end. And most of those troubles have nothing to do with his size.

Not a lot of chance for this to happen, even Caufield didn't play top minutes in his D+2 year at the WJC. They preferred to play Kaliyev who isn't even an American. I'm still pissed off about that.

What’s weird about this picture is if you look at the pants and the shoulders they look the same height. It’s almost as if Lane is the turtle guy and can tuck his head and neck into his body.
