Can you imagine if he hit 6' by the end if his sophomore season?
Could happen around the time some body hair grows in.

Off-topic, but a son of a family friend had his growth spurt at 18/19. For a while, he looked younger than his brother who was 12, LOL.

Hutson, like Caufield, was snubbed at the draft because of his size... Hopefully, he's gonna have the same huge impact when he will graduate with the Habs.

Next snub to fall to us: Mishkov? Though I think he may go 2nd overall.

Plus, hopefully Mailloux makes the list of fallers who were snubbed and became stars.

That's have a high chance that Hutson and Mailloux are going to be impact player at NHL level. Their talent, skillset are just too high.

I am somewhat skeptical but very interested in seeing how he turns out. They thing with high IQ guys is that they can be very adaptable and refine their games as was touched upon in the video. If he cannot make it as a defense man I would sure try and develop him as a PP specialist, forward or D man. Interesting prospect.

Can't still believe that Habs drafted this guy at 62nd overall. Right now, I feel like we have drafted 2 top 10 pick with Juraj Slafkovsky and Lane Hutson.

Same with Cole Caufield and Kirby Dach, it's like having 2 top 10 pick in 2019 draft.
Right now I feel like we have drafted 2 top 10 pick in

Owen Beck and Lane Hutson

Slafkovsky looks more like a 13/14 th pick

So Beck playing well in the O and Hutson playing really well in NCAA has in your mind bumped them ahead of Slaf?

I love these prospects as well, but lets not get carried away with the talent in those leagues. Total number out of my ass coming. But I would guess that 90 percent of players in the OHL and NCAA will never get a sniff of the NHL. Probably 80 percent of them won't be in the AHL.

Beck and Hutson could both develop into fine NHLer's. But they have not leapfrogged Slaf in terms of projections....yet.

LOL...so your redraft has Beck and Hutson in the top 10 and Slaf around 13th/14th?

I guess i had ‘’pom poms’’ obstructing my view since last year then.

You can form an opinion on him on 5 WJC games you saw if you want, i’ll stick to what i know about him.

Also, in the WJC. He did not have that much icetime and never really could get into a grove. His play changed drastically when he was used at the end of the game against team Canada. And used every other shift.

He played better defensively and the offensive potential was evident.

Like Caufield, his usage in the WJC was really bad. Took time for the coach to actually put him on the first power play.

I've never been high on Slaf and let's say that his play this year did not help me be more optimistic.

I see from Hutson and Beck what I don't see from Slaf : hockey IQ.

Only edge that Slaf have on them is that he is bigger. And it doesn't mean that much.

I feel like the 3 of them will have their utility at the NHL level. I also feel like the upside is higher in both Beck and Hutson.

Well I guess you are entitled to your opinion. I would be okay if in the end Beck and Hutson are top 10 talents and Slaf is top 15. Not sure I agree that is where they are heading, but would be pretty awesome if it happened.

Geez Owen Beck who's on pace to finish his d+1 season with 73 pts is a top 10 pick now and better than the guy who was drafted 1st overall and is playing in the nhl

Yeah this is a wild take. It lacks perspective on just how hard it is for an 18-year old to play a regular shift in the NHL.

There's an argument to be made that in a re-draft today both Owen Beck and Lane Hutson would go in the first round. But that shouldn't be too surprising as they were both considered first-rounders on some drafts list year (personally, I wanted Hutson at Mesar's pick). Top-10 at this point is a huge stretch.

Two other top-10 picks also played NHL this year (Wright, Jiricek). Neither was able to stick around for more than a few games and played limited roles in the games they played in. Heck, Wright was sent back to the same league as Beck and is pacing him by 0.6 ppg so far.

I think in a years time there might be an argument that Hutson should have gone top-10, but a lot of things need to go right in the next year for that argument to hold water. Right now? No chance.

I think if Slaf grows more into that body and settles into the league, I think he'll be a force.
I hope.

right now my line up for 2025/2026 looks like that :

Farrel* Suzuki Caufield
Dubois** Slafkovsky*
Roy* Dach
Beck Gallagher

Guhle Barron
Hutson* Xhekaj
??? Mailloux*

For the prospects, it's always how they adapt, that is why I put the asterix and we can have a lot of surprises. But we really see where we are heading and what we are missing.

Things looks good on the defensive front. Especially with the emergence of Barron right now. Harris looks like he is on the outside looking in.

Dvorak, Anderson, Gallagher, Matheson, Savard, Edmunston, Kovacevic, should all be fairly easily tradeable assets.

I feel like we will need 1 difference maker above them all to really be a menace.
