Interesting that you see both Eddie and Savie getting moved this season.
It's not ideal to go with so much youth at once, but I'd rather play Harris on the right side than keep Savard if we acquire a top-pair RHD, to up Harris' value in a future trade.

However, I could see Savard staying and playing with Matheson on a second pair for next year, but I'd trade him at next year's deadline if possible.

rumours that Edmonton would be better off with Savard than Edmundson suggest there might be a market for Savard, even with the term remaining...

I think if Hughes gets big offers for both Edmundson and Savard, he'll move them.

I think if he doesn't he doesn't. As neither is a UFA, there is no rush to trade them. But if the value is there now, I think he'll take it.

What will be interesting to see is, if he gets offered a B prospect and a 2nd for Edmundson, does he take it? I think he does if it is a Heineman level prospect. But I consider him a very good B level prospect.

KK has Armia as his hero and Hutson has Makar as his target potential. This gives you a little taste of their energy/obsession/motivation to improve.

Yes..even 185.

He was at 146 last July...he added 15 pounds in 5 months..

I am not worry for him at all

Regardless of his growth in both height and weight, he is going to be a on the smaller size and needs to keep using his skating/skill/vision to be a dominate offensive type.

A few more inches and more weight will just help him avoid injuries IMO. He's not going to be clearing the front of the net and we will need to pair him with the right guy.

Lane Hutson, the only potential superstar puck moving offensive defensman we have.

High ceiling but low floor imo. Once we see him in a training camp or preseason NHL game then we'll have a much better idea.

But right now he's extremely impressive and there's no reason no to be excited.

As exciting and fun to watch Lane Hutson is, I really think Farrel will turn out to be our late round hit.

Feel this kid will be good.

If both Lane and Sean hit... well no complaints here!

Farrell is a safer pick to make it on one level or another, Hutson’s potential ceiling is much higher. Nothing says they can’t both hit.

TB had a done of great late picks in the last 10 years, and previously Detroit was known for amazing late round picks.

This graphic was posted by user Jason MacIsaac in the US World Junior thread. As excited as I've been been reading about Hutson, these numbers made me a little nervous. Yes, he's scoring, but primary assists are average? And GA/60 below average :(. I guess I was hoping he'd be good at everything lol Work to do I guess. Today he was apparently rotating in and out of the US WJ second power play unit. I hope he makes the cut..

Yes, but they also acquired lots of players (big, gritty ones) to well surround their core

Look at his slot passes and shot assists.. It would suggest that his point totals are actually lower than expected.

And yeah, I think we are all aware that defending is going to be his biggest mountain to overcome.

Well, I thought size was his biggest issue to overcome. Didn't realize he's not good at preventing goals. If Makar is his model, well, Makar does both.. Funnily, Hedman, who has size, is also not good at preventing goals (according to JFresh percentiles) so it's not all about size. Hopefully Hutson can figure it out.

Tbay did a great job with late picks and acquisitions to surround their core - in addition to tanking many years and getting Hedman, Stamkos, and Sergachev (via #3 overall Drouin), and missing on Brett Connoly (#6 overall), Slater Koekkoek (#10 overall). Since Drouin's a bust they went 2 for 5 on top 10 picks. Their Stanley cup winning blue print includes tankong/finishing bottom 10 of the league 5 times in 6 years, including bottom 3 three of those times - and not drafting well woth those top 10 picks, aside from the two no brainers Stamkos and Hedman.

His size is an issue as a defender and that's why the preventing goal thing is an issue right now. He's playing against older college players with size and strength and is working on that adjustment.

Just put him on the wing at worst? Like Streit or Byfuglien in Chicago

It may also be better with his height

He just creates so much out there, he's on another level then I'm used to seeing as a 18 year old Freshman though as a opposite to what Jordan Harris did in his Freshman year where his defense was excellent but his offense was shit as his shot was weak.

I can't recall any game of Hutson's this season (I think I've missed 1 or 2) where I didn't walk away thinking how did he not have 2 or 3 more points. It just totally reminds me of Caufield but actually a bit more exciting in terms of what i'm seeing. Sure it could end up not going well in the NHL but no way am I betting against this kid, he just gets it imo just based off what he does on the ice. To try those things at that size knowing he's not that fast, strong or quick yet he will deke, shake, shimmy, whatever he has to do and it so often turns into something.

I don't put any stock in JFresh or advanced stats for that matter, but I've slowly been coming around to them in baseball so I guess it's only a matter of time for me to start paying attention to them in hockey, just not there yet.

Hutson's biggest problem is that for his size, he's not overly fast, so you have to mix a lack of height, weight, strength, speed, skating. His defense seems fine to me, it's the lack of the physical tools that can get him into trouble. If say over the next 5 years or even 7 years (so by the time he's 23 or 25) if he can get stronger, improve his upper and lower body strength, add as much mass as possible without it slowing him down, work on the skating and stop using his hands like that as it looks like it just wastes energy and over an 82 game schedule it will help I got to think. If he can work on those things then even at his current height I think he will be a very good NHLer though he may need someone like Guhle as his partner.

I have watched NY Rangers 2 times this year. I would say Adam Fox isnt that fast too. He is a kind of Suzuki at defense. Always at the right place, poise with puck. He has elite skill no doubt, but he is far to be the fastest skater. If Hurson become something like that. We are gonna be in buisness
