That would sure be a fine thread title on the main board.

At this point, he could easily become another MAB or Reijo Ruotsalainen.
Enstrom who was with the Jets is probably a better comparison. Enstrom was a lot more effective, imo, because he usually had Byfuglien as his D partner. I suspect that will also be true of our D protege.

Makar is 5’11” 187lbs
Hutson 5’8” 155lbs

3” & 30lbs is not unheard of for young men in their teenage years. And hey don’t get me wrong I’m not hung up on size because he’ll never be crushing people. I’m more concerned about his ability to TAKE a hit. When you’re that small injuries are always a concern.

The 30lbs is definitely doable, the 3 inches will be hard. I think he could definitely end up 5'10 185 as I believe he is between 5'8 and 5'9 at 18.

Most talented Habs prospect I’ve ever seen

If he was 6’2 he would have went 1st overall, guy looks like he’s playing in a video game out there

No doubt about it, if he had Makar's size, he would have went top 5 for sure. 1st overall? Possible.

Skating, Vision, Hockey IQ, and will power is all top notch. You just don't see this that often.

It's tricky cause if he stays the same height but gains 30 lbs, how fast will he be then with his skating? Hopefully he gains 2 more inches (family history of growing late) and the weight comes proportionality.

He's not going to be a physical type regardless. His game will be out skating and out thinking attacking forwards. Getting stronger helps him not get hurt cause he will get hit at times.

Thats a useless and bad thread to make. Its ncaa and only 12 games in. The only thing this thread does is make people dislike habs fans.
I think they already dislike us. Its a little friendly fun on the main boards. Nothing said on that thread is wrong. If they get inflamed by stating a fact, that's on them.

It would be a lot nicer to have another Top 10 pick and really push this team to another level. Hutson simply being a big steal helps.
Doesn't matter if he's a steal or a top 10 pick. He's gonna be a big part of our core if he contine this progression

Not everyone dislikes habs fans, but this makes it easier for those who don't. This kind of thread screams insecurity (putting down Cooley) and gloating (Hutson's awesome start), which nobody likes to see.

If someone made a thread about Slafkovsky being on pace to have one of the worst rookie seasons for a 1st overall pick in the last 20 years, it wouldn't bother you? It's a fact after all...

It wouldn't bother me in the slightest. I would respond with as much as my objective opinion on the matter. I don't take this stuff personally.

Don't think Hutson develops into Makar though. His east-west skating is good, but he's definitely not as smooth as Makar is and Makar has a way better shot as well.

I wonder if Hutson's dangling/vision is better than Makar's though?

Regardless, I haven't been this excited by a prospect in a while. Very looking forward to see how he fairs in the NHL in a few years.

But it does matter, if you want the team to become a contender. It’s rare that a team becomes good year to year without having late 1st round or 2nd round steals contributing to a core that includes good high selections.

Agreed. Only talking about his draft value if he had Makar's size. Definitely would have been considered a top 5 or top 10 pick. And who would have thought Makar would be that good pre draft? Might be one of the best defenseman to ever play and it has a lot to do with how he developed from age 18-20 after the draft. Obsession to improve is a huge factor IMO. If everyone knew how good Makar would be, he would have went 1st OA. Heiskanen was taken before him.

Hutson is a very interesting prospect. You can clearly see his skill and skating and he has the vision and hockey IQ to back it up. Better dangling/vision than Makar? We will have to wait and see how Hutson looks when he turns pro. Usually, you see some struggle with most prospects and they take time but every once in a while, a prospect makes the transition without skipping a beat (Caufield is one of them).

Who would have guessed Mesar would have the least impressive season of our first and second rounders thus far after how good he was in camp. Kitchener do seem to suck though. Very impressive seasons by Beck and Hutson.

If Lane is on PP2, then they think he is not worthy yet of being on PP1, so again I think we need to reserve judgment and not get carried away yet by his being a bit over 1.0 ppg so far.
I guess you want to preach caution but this is silly lol. Dude's over a PPG as a freshman WITHOUT being on the top PP and you're turning it into a BAD thing?

Take away ALL his goals that's still 8 pts in 12 games which would still be good production. Kid's a great passer. I don't know what you're on about lol.

Kid is doing pretty much what Caufield did. Arguably even more impressive. People are super hyped and any fan base would be. Doesn't mean he's a guarantee but people loved the pick at the time and he's only exceeding expectations massively.
