I think they took his measurement from the NTDP last year but he was 148lbs last year and it says 155lbs now so who knows.

For Chrissakes, Bouillon was 5'8" and built like a brick shithouse, weighing 194 lbs. He had St-Louis-like legs and could check the bejeezus out of opponents.

Hutson, at 5'8", 180 lbs, with a low center of gravity, could hold his own quite well in the NHL, IMO, given his tool kit.

The more he keeps the puck in the O-zone, the less his size will be an issue ;)

Franky was a completely different player though. The guy was tough as nails and a very under rated fighter.

Well if he is going to be that short he better gain a crap load of muscle. Samuel Girard is 5'10" and 170 lbs. and he got manhandled in the playoffs, apparently.

We've been getting reports of rookies coming in heavier after they put on muscle...any news on this kid? Maybe he's grown a few inches in the last month

At Development Camp, he was listed at 5'9" and 148 lbs. So going by BU's profile, he's gained 7 pounds since Development Camp.

But here is where it gets confusing with Hutson's height and weight. Because at various places where he was measured, he's had different results:

NHL Combine: 5'8.25" and 158 lbs
Dev. Camp: 5'9" and 148 lbs
BU's Profile: 5'9" and 155 lbs

So according to Habs and BU, Hutson's grown an inch since the combine. However, when you look at his weight, it looks like he lost 10 pounds between combine and camp and gained 7 from camp to BU.

Put him on a weight gainer regime. I was thin, like 135lbs thin during highschool, until I hit 19 yo. Started training, drank 2, sometimes 3 quickmass shakes in 3% milk every day. Got to 200lbs within 3-4 years.

I mean, an inch or two would be career altering so it's not that much of a jump.

I was 5'10 with one side of the family all being 5'8 or shorter (other side 5'9-6'3 for men with a median of 5'10) and I grew half an inch after 18. It's not that much of a stretch to see him him gain at least 1 inch.

At Hutson height, every millimeter gained will have an impact on his value.

Abstract

Among 221 boys investigated, only 54% had the same (+/- 1 cm) body height at age 27 years as they had at age 19. Longitudinal observations of those boys indicate that the increment from 18 to 27 years is strongly dependent on skeletal maturation and even on such a distant event as age at peak height velocity. Average increment in stature was 2.13 cm, and the maximum increment was 7 cm. Late-maturing individuals are largely responsible for the differences in average stature observed in cross-sectional studies in the third decade of life.
___________

In short, 46% of 18 years old will have an additional average growth of close to 1 inch in their early adult years, with a maximum of close to 3 inches.

It's much more common than people think and there are many environmental factors, chief of which is nutrition, which is a family/parental influence, so if his brother and/or father have had late growth spurts, there's probably a higher probability that Lane does the same vs the mean. We're talking about 3 major similarities, genes, epigene and parental environment/nutrition.

I was reading Chris Chelios wiki page for some reason and it says Chelios at 18 years old returned home and grew three inches while adding 40 pounds of muscle. So it is possible.
