JFresh's prediction models had Seattle and Philly making the playoffs last year...
Seattle at least has some exciting young players, but Philly...lolwut
I’m don’t see him as mediocre. I’m sure I could find some graph or thing to make it so but I’ve no interest or time. I simply like him and am glad he’s in teal.
So basically you think he's better than mediocre because you like watching him play...?

I have so many thoughts on this.

1. JFresh is shit and his charts are shit.

2. Barabanov has played top line minutes so don’t know why they are labeling him as a second liner.

3. Barabanov is not anywhere close to the worst player even on this team, never mind the league.

4. He is the latest example of guys getting overplayed because of chemistry with our top forward. We saw it for years with guys like Melker, Sorenson, etc. being put on Jumbo’s wing when they shouldn’t have.

Look Barabanov is one of my least favorite players on this team. He is soft, he is always injured, and he’s kind of expensive for what he brings. He’s a complimentary winger in the mold of like a Gustav Nyquist but worse. We should have traded him when his value was high at the TDL last year but we didn’t. We should have let him walk but we didn’t. I still don’t understand why neither of these things happened.
I actually don't think Barabanov is as soft as he sometimes gets labeled as. I mean, he is what he is--more of a finesse player and somewhat undersized. But I think part of why he does work better than some others have in that role with Hertl is that he does play with decent defensive awareness and he isn't afraid to sometimes take a hit and battle a little along the boards.

I mean, compared to Dahlen on these fronts, he comes across practically as Selke material.

I think Jfresh charts use JTR's model too. I'm pretty over these summary cards too. Just blast me with incoherent data like the good old days.

I don't think Barabanov is that soft at all. There were many times last season he would battle along the boards and come out with the puck. The fact that he played well with Hertl is something too - it's not like you can put anyone beside a #1C and expect it to go well.

Outsider coming to ask about Ferraro. I thought he was pretty good at the end of last season and his stats look good to start. But every fantasy prediction says he’s not worth a look. What’s the deal?

Depends on what you want. He's a solid player but he's not very dynamic offensively so his offensive potential is limited. He'll get you a ton of blocked shots though

Oh hell that’s it. I didn’t look closely enough. Our commissioner set blocked shots to 0.5 (assists are 1 and goals are 2) I think they were supposed to be 0.05. That’s why Ferraro is killing it

.5 for a block sounds like normal scoring.

I think Barabanov has a lot of physical skills that are above average, but he doesnt package them in a way that makes his impact above average.

Couture is nigh-useless without Meier - they need to be bolted to each other.

Hertl and Barabanov have worked well together.

Lorentz is not a top six forward, but the top six forwards on this team are all spoken for, so I guess we're just going to shuffle whatever depth pieces we have endlessly in the vain hope that one of them can produce.

The bottom six remains AHL-quality but that's not going to change.

Eklund-Hertl-Barabanov
Couture-Bordeleau-Meier

Could be loads of fun. Or not work at all. But it's becoming time that Couture moves to wing or becomes the third line center on this team. A very, very expensive third line center.

I doubt we see this before January at the absolute earliest (and that's not a bet I'd take anyway), but I'd like to see this tried next season.

Who else do you put there? Sturm, Gregor? Maybe Lindblom? There aren't really a lot of options.
Lindblom had some scoring touch in Philly before his cancer diagnosis, I would give him a solid chance there in hopes of finding his old form. Part of me also would try Labanc again in hopes in driving up his point totals in order to offload his contract, but I know that is wishful thinking.

Effective? Not? How would you change?

Nieto needs to be on line 4 of benched. Id put put bancer with Hertl and Mier so I can flip him for something useful by the deadline. Id put Couture with Gregor and Brabanov and just understand they are going to get caved.

Can the sharks become competitive on a 3 year horizon?

- Sign-and-trade Meier, getting top 15 first in 2023
- Draft in top 5 in 2023, 2024, and 2025
- Vlasic gets LTIRetired magically in the next 3 years
- Couture gets traded with 2M retention for a late 1st in 2024
- Reimer for a second at deadline

Your 2025-2026 san jose sharks:

??? - Hertl - ???
??? - ??? - ???
??? - ??? - ???
??? - ??? - ???

??? - ???
Ferraro - Karlsson
Benning - who cares

Goalies:
???
???

Dead cap:
Jones 1.6M
Couture 2M

1st round Picks:
top 5 in 2023, 2024, 2025
top 15 in 2023
top 30 in 2024

additional: 2nd from remier

At a minimum, I think we'll need to get 2 top 6 F and 1 top pair D from 5 first round picks.
