Trade EK and sign Dumba and Senko? Weird, but sure maybe Tarasenko would sign a 1 year and be traded while he waits for the cap space to open next year window.
The 1 year deal rumored with Carolina was $4.5M AAV. Guessing if he waits it out, SJ could give him $7M and flip him at the TDL.

We’re still a bad team with Dumba/Tarasenko — but we’d be a bad team with tradeable assets. After Karlsson, our only real tradeable player (who management wants to trade — so not Hertl, Couture or Eklund) is Barabanov.

I don’t hate going into the deadline with Duclair, Dumba and Tarasenko to sell off for picks, it’s actually a pretty smart strategy.

I also wonder if we can’t get Tarasenko, if Grier does end up giving Zadina a contract, since he’s terminating his with Detroit. We’re sort of the perfect, safe place to prove he’s good.

There’s also a fine line between rebuilding and tanking. I think Grier is trying to rebuild rather than just totally tank. I think the 1 year deal sell off stuff makes more sense next year with more young guys ready to fill roles midseason, but I also understand not trying to bring Eklund and Co. up in a total loser culture where their line mates are either fellow rookies or low end players.

Yeah I completely agree. I think having some actual guys who can play hockey at a high level will really help Bordeleau, Eklund, Guschin, etc. thrive.

I think Grier needs to get this Karlsson deal done asap so he can move on to finishing the team.

Both of those teams would have to significantly shuffle cap space to bring in EK. I just don't see an EK trade next season unless the Sharks are willing to significantly write down an overpaid asset (i.e. big retention). It appears to me it will be another tough season to move expensive assets.

The sharks basically did this prior to grier and ya we were horrible but this does nothing for the young players. Not only do you develop these guys in a losing culture you hand them roles they are not ready for and hope they stick, historically this is the number 1 way to destroy a players development we need veteran depth to hold spots down so are prospects can integrate naturally by winning spots while also not getting to good to block these guys from oppurtunity. This off season should be focused on building the ahl culture up so we can improve our in house development so we can not only develop this batch of guys but keep it going into the competitive window

I just want it such that if a player wins a spot in camp, they get that spot, and aren't intentionally held back. No matter who it is.

If the difference is the Sharks picking 5th instead of 3rd but they have 3 (1sts) because Senko and EK trades Ill take it. Hes an easy flip at TDL if hes healthy

Sharks had way too many bottom 6 forwards anyways. But surprising hes gone

I would be even more sick to my stomach than I already am with this team if I ever see Dumba wear a Sharks jersey. And even though Tarasenko has lost a step, there is a possible outcome wear he could strike chemistry with a line and bring the Sharks up 2-3 spots. Shouldn't worry about either player.

Wow I thought Kaut would be playing on the Sharks this year
Steve Holtz hooked him up with his new agents at Gobias Industries, and they used the worst bluff Grier has ever seen to try and get him a new contract.

Honestly, he probably just would rather play big minutes at home than fight for a 4th line spot. He's kinda just replacement-level filler, so it's not a big loss anyway.

Dumba is a greasy player on the decline.
Senko is another declining player who's going to end his career chasing one year contracts.
Just no to either
