Assume EK65 was UFA after this year. What would his next NHL contract look like?
I think a team would give him 3 or 4 years x 9M easily.

13 games for Zetterlund as a Shark - Anyone feel better/worse about him?
Don't know if he'd get 11.5. I can't see a team going more than 10.A team would easily give him the contract he’s on now.

He has 21 more points than the next closest D. He’d easily get over 10. If Dougie Hamilton can get 9, EK easily gets over 10.Don't know if he'd get 11.5. I can't see a team going more than 10.
I do think context matters. He wouldn’t be allowed to roam as aggressively as he is here. He would need to be a little more defensively responsible. He has 21 more points than the next closest D. He’d easily get over 10. If Dougie Hamilton can get 9, EK easily gets over 10.
His defensive issues have been massively overstated. He’d also have a much better partner than a bunch of 6/7 D.I do think context matters. He wouldn’t be allowed to roam as aggressively as he is here. He would need to be a little more defensively responsible.
Dougie Hamilton was five years younger, had a better recent track record of health, and wasn't really all that far back of Karlsson in terms of overall value, if he even was (certainly Karlsson was better in his "contract year").He has 21 more points than the next closest D. Hamilton had one season that he wasn’t considered a locker room cancer. He didn’t have a single season at a PPG. The only reason he was seen as kind of good defensively is because of Slavin.Dougie Hamilton was five years younger, had a better recent track record of health, and wasn't really all that far back of Karlsson in terms of overall value, if he even was (certainly Karlsson was better in his "contract year").
Hamilton was almost certainly a much more valuable asset than Karlsson hypothetically would be. Karlsson would probably still get a very high cap hit, but over many fewer seasons and thus a less valuable overall contract.
Devils fans coming in here to agree. The meat of the trade for you guys is the potentially 2 1st round picks and Mukh's potential. As Grier said, “You still have to fill out the team”. He’s been a good tank replacement for Timo.
The fact that some NJD fans thought Zetterlund was untouchable shows how delusional a portion of them are.
Maybe we can trade Zetterlund for the rights to TImo

At that amount the Bruin don't match?Spitballing, here...
Jeremy Swayman offer sheet in the summer. 4 years, $3.85m per. Compensation is an SJS 2023 second rounder (presently about 35th overall). Boston has no draft pick in the top 2 rounds of the next two drafts.
Yay? Nay?
(For what it's worth, yes, I think Swayman has the chance to be a franchise/No.1 goaltender...)

I think itd be a 2024 2nd since it'd be after the draft. I don't think hed sign it with that kind of term. Too team friendlySpitballing, here...

I'd match it and then trade him off. He'd be a steal locked up for term at that priceUllmark is their guy. They probably won't want to spend nearly 4M AAV on a backup.
It would be a 2024 2nd rounder that I’m sure Boston would match. It would be more fruitful to figure out a trade there if we’re identifying Swayman as our goalie for the future. I’m not ready to seek out a goalie personally unless it happens internally.Spitballing, here...
