I mean yes and no. Namestnikov isn’t very good anymore. Eyssimont is the exact type of player that playoff teams love though. I think he has a good amount of value to playoff teams.
The problem with Mikey for a playoff team is that he takes too many bad penalties. More than coaches love 4th liners that bring effort and energy they hate 4th liners that take bad penalties.

My guess is that there's no market for Reimer, and Grier moves Namestnikov and Bonino for mid-round picks. It seems like a Labanc deal would be too complicated for the deadline; it also seems like there's not much interest in Barabanov so it'd behoove Grier to keep him for now.

I just hope they trade Barabanov as a thank you for getting beat up with no physical support these last few years. Poor small russian dude is giving his heart most nights and gets killed while his teammates stand and watch. I want to see him cook in the playoffs on a real team.

IDK why, but I think Barabanov will be the sweetener in a Karlsson trade. They have great chemistry and if a team is giving up futures for Karl, they'll want something extra for the Now

You're right about their chemistry. It seems like EK has guys he trusts more than others and I've noticed he seems to trust Barabanov (and Meier :() more than others for playmaking. Would've been sweet for them to go to Edmonton because I think that would've helped them a lot more than the moves they made did.

I just hope Grier plans on cooking some Boston Clam Chowda in a few hours and not Beef Stew.

I'm only trading Barabanov for a first or more, not giving him away. He's not going to drag us to many more wins and if he repeats his production we can get that for him in the off-season or at the draft

If/when we do finally call guys like Eklund up, they need guys with some talent to play with, so Barabanov could be a good winger to put on anyone's line. He'll look good next to Bedard.

Think Barabanov had plenty of interest, but reports were that the Sharks weren't keen on moving him. Guessing it would have to take a massive overpay. I don't agree with the decision, but seems to be what is circulating.

Personally, I'd take a 2nd for him, but based on values on Nino, and Granlund (2nd rounders) and the fact that they make $1.5 and $2.5M more than him, respectively, I think someone would have to offer more for him. Pens were supposedly in the market for Barabanov and then pivoted to Granlund, so would imagine that Grier's asking price was rightfully higher than what Pittsburgh gave Nashville for Granlund.

Eklund ain't coming up this year under basically any circumstance. Organization is rightfully playing the ELC slide game on him this year.

Yes I know. Barabanov is under contract next year though. Which is why I said he would look good next to someone like Eklund or Bedard or whoever. lol

Hopefully he stays and nobody ups the asking price (or at least nobody in SJ). He holds little value outside of being 6'6.

The "finally" insinuated that you thought he should be up already. Maybe just an interpretation issue hah. It's early.

That will remove the ability to slide his contract another year and he'll be an RFA after 24-25.

Be the first time he has ever sourced anything. If his sources are anything like his podcast takes, they're likely wrong (though not as wrong and annoying as his former co-host).

I wanted to like them but it was tough. Podcast is dreadful. I guess rewarding Eklund for all the BS he had to endure the last 2 years is probably good for team moral.

Kudos to him for being right on this one. Hopefully just a 9 game stint and then back down to the Cuda (though unsure if you get 9 games twice or just once for ELC slide purposes).

Sheng RT'd him on this one so it's probably happening I think. Makes sense since we don't have enough forwards even if we were to recall Kaut
