Speculation: 2022-23 Sharks Roster Discussion Part II

I think next year we look like:

Eklund-Hertl-Kunin
Barabanov-Couture-Zetterlund
Gregor-Sturm-Bordeleau
Eyssimont-Lorentz-Lindblom

Ferraro-Fabbro
Muhkamadulin-Benning
Vlasic-Mcdonald

Kahkonen
Free Agent

Assuming Karlsson is dealt at the draft, Labanc is traded for Fabbro, and no other significant signing is made. And we don't get Bedard/Fantilli

That's another lottery pick, which is good....

I can’t imagine Couture who by all accounts desperately wants a cup win would want to stay much longer. Wonder what we could get for him at the draft

The good thing is that contending teams have great players, and Logan definitely needs to play with another great player at this point in his career. He's done alright with Barabanov, imagine what he could do with Necas or Aho, or Crosby.

Agreed, in Carolina I feel like he’d be rejuvenated to back on a winning team and we all know how he is in the playoffs.

While I’m excited about Mukh, we really need to find more high end D prospects. It’s wildly depressing seeing our lineup without Karlsson. I know we’re supposed to be bad, but I’d love to be bad with promising young guys coming up. We have some on offense but outside of Mukh and Havelid, no one on D.

It’s weird to me that there haven’t been any rumors about Couture. He seems like an ideal candidate to trade. I do think Grier is trying to keep some guys in the transition period to help the new guys along but… still.

We have Hertl for awhile to help ease in rookies. Then we have players like Sturm who can take the hard matchups (not saying they wouldn’t get caved in) letting the rookies further ease into the NHL. So yeah seems odd there’s no noise regarding Couture

Canes can fit Couture and they need help in the playoffs way more than making the playoffs. Hopefully after Rangers get Kane, Canes get desperate

I guess so. Just seems like a total repeat of Kunin
Yea, well i definitely don't think we need him, like at all (though I still think the Kunin trade was fine and not worth any brain power to think about). But if MIN is giving Greenway+pick just to get his 3M off the books, the Sharks should definitely be kicking tires.

I agree, but I dont think we are talking about that kind of deal here. We had the chance with Zaitsev and didnt do it

True, but there could me a lot of reasons why they didnt do that move, one being they wanted to be the most flexible for the impending Timo trade. Them being at the contract limit was....limiting

Honestly? Getting everything for this plus what’s looking like one of the big 4 in the draft. Combine that with Bord and Ek and maybe Robins, Coe, Laroque etc and I don’t hate the young nucleus nearly as much as I did coming into the year. This all had to happen but I imagine at some point well start seeing a more positive trajectory.
