It seems like Beauvilier is seen as a cap dump nowadays so it's a 1st and a B+ prospect for a rental
Yeah, I don't know much about Beauvillier or Raty, but looking at their stat-line, seems more like a quantity rather than quality trade. Obviously still pretty good for a rental, but seems like a okay trade on both sides?

Raty is pretty good and the pick should be in the 13-20 range. Solid return for an upcoming UFA. Excited to see what Grier could get for Meier. Assuming the team trading for him will be in a better spot in the standings than the Isles, we should expect a better prospect than Raty, or an unprotected first. Not sure what prospect fits that bill on the Canes, but you gotta think the most likely package is Holtz + 1st + smaller piece if its the devils.

At first glance, I thought it was a 1st, an A prospect, and a solid young NHLer which seems like a crazy return for a rental. But after digging into it more, Beauvilier and Raty aren't regarded that highly right now. Like I remember Raty was returning to form last year but he hasn't really progressed that well and Beauvilier has just dropped off a cliff in the last 2 years.

So it's still a pretty good return but not that insane.

It feels like an underwhelming return to me. Beauvillier is the Islanders's Labanc, and Raty is a B-level prospect.

I'm still expecting something along the lines of 1st+Holtz+another prospect like Villen or Muk and maybe a cap dump. Seems to be even more likely now.
Can't be disappointed if the expectations are low. At the very least, this sets a floor for Grier; if he can't beat this with Meier then he shouldn't have the job.

I’m worried about Grier’s trading abilities but I’m thrilled that this Horvat deal came through and hopefully set the market price. If a team gets Timo signed, Grier’s haul should be better than this. Significantly, you’d think.

I'm guessing this was also the offer to SJ for Meier as well. I would hope Grier said no because there was a better offer on the table from the other teams in the bidding war

Canucks are retooling and Sharks will be rebuilding, so Meier won't be returning an established roster guy like Beauvillier.

I dunno if a guy who’s got 35 goals in the last three season combined is anything more than a cap dump. Sharks are probably better off getting a cap dump in return as well as it increases timo’s value.
