MacEwen, Grundstrom and Bjornfot all played less than 5 min.

The Bjornfot stuff is just so mysterious. Makes the team at 18, NHL regular at 19 and 20, suffers a moderate but not catastrophic injury and then just falls off the face of the Earth with the organization after that. Doesn’t see the ice despite literally 4/6 the defense core being injured and the next year spends most of the year in the minors after being an NHL’er for 2 years.

I am assuming he is gone this summer (almost a certainty if they re-sign Gav), so we will see if it was him or if the Kings misjudged, but man this is one of the weirdest career arcs I can remember, maybe Yachmenev or Oscar Moller.

Though hindsight it makes sense adding a top 3 pugilist that's huge and plays both LD and LW.

Having a legit enforcer on the team allows your star players to play with confidence because they know that the enforcer will keep the other team honest. Mcdermid did that and even though he didn't score much his value in preventing the opposing team of taking liberties was important. If you don't believe that, then look at what your seeing from the kings right now.
