Because of time of year its different but this was a "trap" game coming off a long homestand where we defeated the same team 8-2 and not really that close, big game next and the other team fighting for its playoff lives, almost could feel this happening . Tomorrow night will tell how mentally prepared they are , we had good showings in the last month when needed should be a good battle of wills , kings are one of the best defensive teams now and they are a machine that is hitting on all cylinders , after sundays game really hope he starts korpi

Dammit, and they just sent Spence back down. Oof....looks like it's gonna be a first round exit if it's gonna be Edler/Durzi.

Alright, I'm for trading Arvy since Kings not going anywhere with that D pairing lol

At least they are making major upgrades for the Reign: Spence, Krygier and Laferriere (with Portillo, Pinelli and Clarke next) ...cuz Koala has what he wants for his roster. He's a ride and die with Edler kind of guy....and rigid goalie rotation.

Can you explain what I'm looking at? I'm guessing the more the lines are to the right, the better you are?
it's one of dom's "catch-all" stats that i don't like too much but i find it to be somewhat rooted in reality and matching the eye test. he calls it basically a productivity score

each color is offense/defense corresponding to the legend on the bottom, right is good left is bad for each color. he presents them additively though which is a bit confusing, like edler's negative offensive contribution is only that small blue sliver on the left of 0.xx, it's not also -3.xx. to be below -3 or above +3 you gotta be doing some things exceptionally wrong or right. most guys are usually somewhere between -1 and +1 unless they had exceptional nights. on a 5 point night last night, RNH was only +3GS individually to draw a comparison

Byfield not doing jack, 2nd game in a row.
Reminds me of the playoffs last year.
If he keeps it up , I put someone else on that line
Moore, Grundstrom, Kaliyev, Arv
even Fiala, lol anyone.
Byfield to 4th line for a wakeup shakeup.
Yeah, let's break up what's been one of the best lines in the NHL since the new year, move Byfield to 4th line and move Moore or Grundy to top line. Brilliance.
AK can't even get time and you think TM is going to play him on the top line for 15-20 minutes and breaking that up?

I feel bad for myself having to watch Iafallo.
Ya, my eyes dont want to follow. He came up during the mail it in years where DD, Kopi, Carter, Tofolli and Pearson sucked ass and set a bad example. Its like people that grew up in USSR - they will never change. He's consistent in giving 80% every night... sort of looks like a hockey player out there, in the end the dude is a passenger that somehow has ingratiated himself into a regular shift and special teams duties... when based on his performance should be getting 4th line minutes and maybe some PK time.

Dude! i am really digging your Todd McLellan avatar!

Anderson-Doughty
Bjornfot-Roy
Gavrikov-Spence

That's the defense the Kings should be rolling right now.

You can re-unite Gavrikov-Roy late in games if you're holding a one goal lead.
Good idea.. but id swap 2nd and 3rd pair, feel like Spence > Bjornfot and Gavrikov = Roy

It's basically two second pairings. They'd get the same amount of TOI the way I see it.
Yes it would be nice to have 2 2nd pairings like that, you just roll D pairs all game long and dont have to stress out on matchups. Edit: and right now its like we have 2 1st pairings and giant falloff on the 3rd pair - totally imbalanced

they'd have to carry 8 D then no? don't see that happening

maybe next season if they resign gavrikov and grow the balls to trade or waive walker/durzi

This is also where Durzi and Walker were traded away from the team. Or so I am guessing.

Walker can be waived right now.

You'd hope someone claims him, but it's highly unlikely.

Don't forget primary assist on the only goal
seemed like the perfect game to get 4 lines rolling, top 2 were neutralized so give the bottom 6 some ice and force sutter to work

not in toddland i guess

well, yeah, but we're talking risk averse NHL GMs here right? waive the "sure" thing for a young player? probably not unless they're an exceptional talent

it's probably a better lineup but i don't see a GM making those kind of moves unless they're desperate

This is super true- anyone not seeing the possibility of this playing out is fooling themselves. Your Edmonton or Vegas at home in a pivotal playoff game and see Durzi/Edler as a pairing...throw out your freshest scoring line every time.
So Durzi needs to be paired with Gavorikov! 3rd pairing of Spence and Roy.

If a playoff team has injuries on the blueline they might pick him up. Just wait until someone goes down than put him on waivers and hope a GM knee jerks.

gavrikov/durzi seems a bit risky to me since gavrikov likes to jump into the play, i'm not sure you can rely on durzi to reasonably cover those activations even though gavrikov seems to be pretty smart about em

The only reason Bjornfot should even be thought of is because he is left handed and simply being left handed isn't enough to get him in the lineup at this point.
