And yet they got swept by Colorado? I'm absolutely okay with pairing up against Edmonton in the playoffs. Last year we were without Doughty/Arvidsson/2023 Vilardi/2023 Byfield/no Gavrikov/goaltending issues and we still took them to 7 games!

How did Hyman, Byugstad and Kane work in intimidating Colorado?
You’re missing the point again. No one is saying the Kings are NOT a better team than last year. They obviously are. The issue is not a matter of being better or not, if your better players can be taken out two games in a row with no consequence than those players really mean nothing if someone can just pick them off. Edmonton did that last year by running the better players and injuring them. What’s to stop them from doing that? Sure they lost Kassian, but the question isn’t are the Kings better than last year, the question is what’s to stop someone from doing it now?

The Kings lost Fiala and Vilardi in a span of a week. Two of our best players.

Btw you keep acting like Colorado didn’t have players in Mackinnon and Landeskog who have no issues fighting. And they’re actually pretty good at it. And they also had MacDermid.

I’m not arguing for goons. I’m arguing for players that can drop the gloves for their teammates because besides Danault the Kings have no one.

I actually didn’t care about players who could fight at the drop of a hat until the Kings had no response to teams that did.

I don’t think having those players you’re talking about would have prevented the injuries to either Fiala or Vilardi. Cogliano isn‘t exactly a head hunter. What happened sucks but that stuff happens from time to time. With Vilardi, it wasn’t really a dirty play. I’ve argued for more team toughness too but I think it’s more about guts during big moments of a game rather than a team full of guys like Clifford or MacDermid. Justin Williams was a tough player and he never dropped the gloves.

Cogliano is no saint when against the Kings. Maybe you have forgotten.

It’s not a matter of stopping those players right then and there. It’s to keep the opposition more honest. It’s better to have an answer and not need it than need an answer and not have it.

Cale Makar got clocked right in the head by Jeff Carter 2 feet from MacKinnon and he didn’t do anything except look at the ref for a penalty. And that started Makar concussion issue.

Win is nice. Vilardi’s injury makes me sad.

Weegars play that caused it makes me mad. No need to do that. The only thing missing was shoving him full force into the boards.

Kempe has no problem, I don't think Lizzo wouldn't hesitate either. But yeah, overall, we really need to address the size on the 4th line going forward.

Edm has Hyman, bjugstad and Kane. I'd rather not have la pair up w edm in the playoffs. I hope they get that first seed so they play Winnipeg or somebody else.
Nah, Kings need to run it back with Edmonton. They should see Edmonton, Vegas, Colorado if they make it all the way.

Yeah that’s true but it’s also true that there are pretty good amount videos of players getting their shit kicked in by Mackinnon and Landeskog. Doughty said the Kings need to get tougher last year at the end of the season. They didn’t. There is no way to dance around the issue that the Kings are a tougher team.

Bro Kempe first and only fight he was more fixated on his hair than throwing a swing lol. Lizzo. Really. If lizzo is doing the fighting than the Kings need a jock check

That first half of the season was smoke & mirrors. It was at best an average team. But since the new year, especially since the deal, it's a different team. The subtraction of Quick & adding a real goalie, adding a real LHD and emergence of QB -- all of it has come together all at once and made this a real team. It's not fake any more.
I do also think that durzi was an issue -- for this team during the 1st half that is (with the weak goaltending and no Gav). Durzi, when he comes back, is less of an issue. But I think we're a better overall team without him.

At least now we have a decent PP. That makes other teams a bit more concerned with slapping us around. Come playoff time, that will be big. Last year, not only did we not stand up against them but there was no consequences resulting from our pathetic PP. If teams want to bully us this year, at least now they have to contend with going down a goal. Still, there is an overall weakness to the team. Look at the game hits by team. That's something that needs to change eventually.
I don’t think this gets enough recognition here:

The most impactful acquisition this season by the Kings is Jim Hiller.

Maybe, but let’s not discount Fiala and Vilardi’s willingness to make shit happen instead of standing around doing the five knuckle shuffle for the entire PP.

So what, the Kings dress a goon who drops the gloves and Cogliano skates away and the Kings get an extra penalty? The game has changed. That stuff doesn’t work anymore.

Or just have someone crush him.. it doesn’t have to be a fight really.

you don't need MacEwen in the lineup to have the team decide to finish their checks hard on a particular player. That may even provoke a guy like Cogliano or Hanifin to fight a Durzi or Kempe because they sure wouldn't go with Zach.

MacEwen would never catch Cogliano anyway.

Let me direct. I am not advocating for fights particularly. It’d be great to have that but I want someone who’s looking to hurt players when they have the puck. Whether that’s questionable hits or borderline charging. To have some intimidating in the kings game plan would go a long way. You can argue maybe that’d increase the likelihood of someone retaliating, however if the Kings don’t have a player like that who can retaliate then what will stop a team that has a player like that from just running guys? I know grundstrom throws good hits but we need guys who play on the edge.

Now doesn’t this say more about you?
Does it? Whatever you think it says, I’ll take it cause I know I wasn’t one of the ****s to talk a ton of shit on this coach, GM and team that’s brought us one of the best seasons we’ve ever seen thus far.

Retaliation as you’re describing means the team is off their game and focusing on something they shouldn’t be focused on. It’s what separates champions from the rest. The cup teams from a decade ago never let their focus go to anything other than winning games. Remember when Clifford was knocked out of the playoffs against Vancouver? Or when Stoll was blindsided by Torres? No retaliation. Guess what. The Kings still won those series.

Weren’t you just yesterday clutching your pearls about how disrespectful people were being toward the coach and how it was uncalled for to name call?

Not necessarily. I’m not saying a team wide mentality that’s based on retaliation. I don’t think I’m being unclear but I’ll be more clear, I’m talking about one or two players who have a certain role that can escalate to edgy hockey if needed be. Or if the Kings are getting rolled then one guy to just go lay someone out at all costs. Not a team wide mentality like you suggest. Just a player who can throw the Dustin Brown hit on Sedin in the playoffs. I want that. That’s what I want. And if the guy can fight someone then that’d be perfect.

I have no idea why he’s always so mad that people have differing opinions
