This is one of those games where Todd's coaching was absolutely indefensible and completely chicken shit

Playing not to lose after the Canucks 2nd goal, benching the 4th line that was buzzing, mind-boggling decisions in the last 3 min and OT

That is playoff losing coaching right there. Everything was totally fine and he got rattled even more than the team did. There's a reason losing follows this guy around.

This game exposed the Kings weakness of not being able to put a team away. Yea, they grossly outshot the Nucks but it isn't the amount of shots that matter, It is the quality of shots that matter. The Nucks didn't shoot much on thee Kings but they outscored the Kings which translates too, they did more with less shots on the Kings, than the Kings did with their over 40 shots. Taking a lot of shots and hitting the goaltender in the chest or in the pads doesn't translate to goals but picking a corner or an opening and hitting it does. That is exactly what the Nucks did.

Danault is one of those players that is really good when he is played to his strengths, which is shutting down other teams top lines and killing penalties. But because of poor coaching decisions, can sometimes cause real harm to the team when improperly used.

Danault is not someone who should ever step on the ice in a 3 on 3 situation or play on the PP. The same is true of Iafallo.

Honestly, it's time to elevate Grundstrom to LW3 and move Iafallo down to LW4.
Iafallo creates nothing and has 3 goals in his last 26 games and Carl has 3 goals in his last 6 games.
He scores clutch goals and had 3 in the playoffs., last year.
I think his presence and force with Lizotte and Vilardi would help immensely and he'd pop a few more.
It's no mystery that he scores goals...more than any King in practice and 14 in SHL at 19 and 17 in the SHL at age 20. (Kempe had 5 in the SHL at age 18) He's been great with Kupari and Kaliyev, but why not move him up?
He never really disappoints. Iafallo rarely does not disappoint.

Why does AI get PP time and OT time? I do not dislike him, just how much he's overused. I hope he gets
traded for 2 reasons: 1: use the 4 mil toward Vilardi, Gavrikov and Korpisalo and 2: so Todd cannot misuse
him any more. Because he will and hold back better players.

I am a big Iafallo defender but the last 10 games he's looked like late-stage Tanner Pearson
I don’t know what happened to him injury wise but he’s lost any and all speed he had before which made him a puck hound and the reason he worked so well on the top line. Woof. If he isn’t traded at the draft and he keeps this up and he’ll be in Ontario by the end of next season.

It’s staggering how much more mature Spence’s game is as compared to Durzi.
I was at the game and I closely watched him each shift...His lateral skating is so good - he gets around the ice w a lot more agility than Walker or Durzi. He has a lot of deception in his passing - little head fakes and pass fakes to create better passing lanes. He is assertive and decisive on the PP. He made one turnover that cost a quality chance otherwise he was flawless getting pucks out of the zone.

One of the things that convinced him to come here was that he’d get a larger role in the offense. I’m not sure where I saw that but makes sense given his deployments with the Kings. I’m ok with him on PP2 but not OT. Guys like Iafallo and Moore shouldn’t see OT time either. You need creativity, you’re not holding a lead. Vancouver literally called a timeout to keep Pettersson out there.

That main board thread lost us this game. ;)

I hated everything about this game. I've never seen a team try and phone in an OT before. Now I have. ZERO F-ING SHOTS OR ATTEMPTS !!!! They just kept giving the puck away. The last group of Danault Kopi and Grav look so bad, 3 turnovers after winning one of the few draws, and they just gave right to the most dangerous guy on the ice. The PP was as bad as I've seen it. Just spent 1:15 standing around before turning it over. No movement at all, just a passing drill. What did the Canucks do on thier only PP, win the draw move it around to their best shooter and its in, in less than 6 second. Can I also point out how TM put VA out to win a draw along with Danault , and guess who took the draw and lost it again? We didn't deserve a point.

That's 10 staright losses to the Canucks for those keeping score.

gets sent out there in a priority o zone shift with 30 seconds left or whatever too, could just as easily had double shifted kopitar like he always does

playing not to lose i guess

He didn't even take the draw, VA did and lost it like he always does.

It was a bummer that the Kings couldn't finish some good scoring chances to win this game, but there were some specific reasons it didn't happen. First, Demko stole this game from the first few minutes to start the game, all the way till the shootout ended. Second, the PK is still the teams Achilles Heel. Giving up that Canucks PP goal only 6 secs into it, was the turning point in the game and just embarrassing to see. Scouting report was Pettersson is a primary shooter for their PP and the Kings didn't mark him well enough. To me that's a combo of bad coaching and bad execution by the PK unit on the ice.

You can't win them all, but this was a disappointing gained point in not being able to put the game away. While Fiala could have made a difference, this game was winnable without him.

I fell asleep after the Kings took a lead on the Grundstrom goal. Nodded off right after Toronto decided that he didn’t kick it in.

How do they end up losing to a crap team after scoring two lucky goals? Only things that stand out are getting outhit 32-17 by the Canucks and them blocking 19 shots to 11 for the Kings.

The way this team picks up wins agains mostly mediocre competition while pissing between their legs, you have to go with Copley as your #1 and Korpisalo as the backup.

Demko played Vezina quality goal. He saved their Canadian bacon.
The Canucks have our number and have an insane record against us, as well as the rest of the Pacific.

I've been confused with this supposed inability to beat VAN in like the last decade -- did 12/30/21 not count?

What about TMs OT coaching and line deployment. Can you explain that? There must be some brilliant mind play going on for such an amazing coach as TM (or so you keep telling us).

I said it earlier and I'll repeat it

One of the worst coaching performances I've ever seen. TM got punched in the mouth with a PP goal against and lost the plot altogether, came completely unraveled

TM def deserves some credit for this stretch too but much like everything else we're critical of this season--these are the things that will matter when it matters in the playoffs and they aren't being adjusted.

Benching your 4th line who were some of your best checkers on the night and generated a goal thru effort
Putting out Arvidsson/Danault--and having Arvy take the faceoff
Gavrikov-Kopitar-Danault in OT
Iafallo struggling in OT
Prevent defense when you were running away with the game
playing not-to-lose in OT

How many bad decisions can one guy make in 10 minutes? It was absurd

This is "play AA and Edler vs. McDavid at home" level stuff.

It's evident that TMac does not trust the kids yet. There is zero reasons that Iafallo is put on a PP or OT. Byfield should at least get some 3-3 OT time, cycle him with Moore.
