Winning in spite of themselves, it's so ugly.

At least tonight I thought they did well until Arvy's brain death, most of the issues were caused by either Durzi or shit reffing or both. I'm not sure I've ever seen a game that the linesmen influenced more directly and more frequently than tonight.

Anze Kopitar is leading the team with 6 points now.

He looked much better tonight. Hopefully he's rounding into form after preseason, that would be nice.

Also helps that several other forwards got more minutes, notably Danault and Moore. He had gas in the tank for good defense and PK play late in the game.

As far as time on ice goes, the 16:34 for Vilardi was 6th on the team (Moore and Danault led the way at 20+ minutes) and Byfield had a respectable 12:51 at even strength. Kempe and Kopitar below 19 minutes as well. Pretty happy with that.

If not for a couple boneheaded plays, we'd be 2-1-1 at worst, if not 3-1, and we're scoring lots of goals. Players we needed to improve seem to have improved, and those who we were worried about regressing look pretty good (Kempe especially). Fiala is fitting in. Minutes are being distributed better among the forwards. It's a better start than last year. The only good thing about boneheaded plays by professionals: they can be corrected easily and over the course of an entire year, they're rare.

If AI is hurt, I'm hoping Kaliyev gets a shot on that line with QB and Gabe. And Tonka needs to be a fixture on the 4th line. They looked good tonight.

The way our defense (I use the term loosely) is playing thus far, seems as though Bjornfot deserves at least a look for a few games.

The problem is that Durzi is still playing like a doofus. If anyone should be told to play safer it should be him. I don't have any complaints for Walker and Roy tonight.

Roy and Walker looked better tonite.. but we really dont need both of them around we are 5R 1L thats not a healthy balance of handedness. Neither of them is very physical.. You have spence and bjornfot who skate better, are leftites and are quicker to move the puck out of the zone. I think they'd make us better instantly.. Durzi.. is plain stupid. He isnt learning from his benching thats a bad sign.

October hockey always seems like a high scoring hot mess. Not too worried. The defensive structure will return. Hopefully our ability to score with three lines remains all season though.

I guess after 4 games my biggest concerns are Durzi, Cal, and injuries to AI and AK.

So they fed the Detroit announcers that it was an injury (or maybe they were just assuming) that was keeping him out of tonight's lineup. I didn't believe it when they mentioned it either. But Rosen coming through with the facts.
