I know, what are we going to fire TM over when he’s dressing both Kaliyev AND Grundstrom?
You get rid of Todd because he’s a damn good builder but not a finisher.. meaning, he’ll help you build out your team by coaching the fundamentals but if you want to win a cup, look elsewhere…

TMac = Terry Murray

Not even Arvidsson's own mother would defend this play, but here we are.
Nobody is defending the 'play' -- it was horrible.

What I would defend is the notion that the two are comparable, they are not.

oh, so now we are a team ready to win a cup? Just need the right coach?

Funny, a year ago we weren't going to make the playoffs -- this season we will only regress which means we won't make the playoffs -- but if we find the right coach, we'll be a SC contender! lol, love this board.

That’s not what I said Dusty Rhodes…
Again, I said Todd is a builder who will never get a team with SC aspirations over the hump. Todd’s done a great job building this but I’m not wanting nor waiting for us to become this decades version of his sj shorks

Figure he's probably got til his contract, if not longer......the problem is, his version of SJ won....a shit ton......except in Playoffs etc...where it counts more.....but there's always the....what if factor in play, extremely hard to move on from a winning coach in pro sports.....

Also, TM was successful right off the bat. Not saying he's the right coach to win a cup particularly, but if he had those SJ teams with 10 years of coaching under his belt, things might have been different.

Todd has this reputation of being a building coach, but he's never really done that, SJ was already good when he arrived. I guess he was kind of doing that in Edmonton, but with that weirdly built roster that team never had a chance.

He's a great coach with systems, he will evolve them as his team changes. He's above average at making adjustments, and he's also really good with motivation. He's almost the anti-Sutter, he's not stubborn and won't try to force things. He's fully open to input and absolutely listens to his coaches and others in the organization.

I think his main weakness is he gives players a bit too much rope to work through things. While he is good at adjustments, he could be quicker and bolder at making them. He's also could stand to be a bit more flexible on his line combinations, trying to find that chemistry between players. While the Kings have been good defensively under him, I don't see him as a strong defensive coach. He won't have players collapsing around home-plate all the time, for example.

Compared to many coaches around the league he's really fair with rookies. The Kings aren't in a situation like some building teams where there is a complete lack of established scoring. He's struck a good balance as far as getting younger guys into the lineup without screwing them up either way. That's arguable of course, but we are starting to see the fruits of that with Vilardi and Byfield. I expect Kupari and Bjornfot to follow suit. Yeah, some of us want him to be more aggressive in that regard but overall the results are finally starting to show.

Undoubtedly there is a better coach for this team, there always is. But who? TM's not perfect, but we could do a heck of a lot worse.

For as much as I get on TMac for how he allocates ice time, I think he's better than some are giving him credit.

I don't want him fired. I think management has certain expectations and he's working to meet those, even if it's not the same way I hope he would.

There are different ways to build and different ways to win. I think, internally, the Kings want to win with the current crop of vets, and just hope the developing prospects will follow along with Adrian Kempe's development path. I don't think that setup is conducive to where the Kings are right now, as they will start losing good young players faster than they can truly understand what they have (most players will start being waiver eligible after their D+5 season, and it took Kempe to his D+7 year to be impactful in a top-6 role).

On one hand, yay, cohesive locker room.

On the other, that's f***ed up in comparison to all the 'stupid' rhetoric surrounding Durzi's turnover during the VGK game.

Two different situations, one with the lead, and one tied. While Durzi's pass was bad [ completely unnecessary] , the 4 guys back had plenty of time to defend the scoring chance, especially Roy. They didn't. We lost. Last night we had the lead and a lay up EN goal. VA had no idea larkin was charging up behind him, got stripped, and the Wings eventually tied it. Then the Kings won. VA mistake did not lose the game, or was a reckless play. I can see how Tmac views it differently with his comments.
