I was, and still am, against the trade from MN's POV. You simply don't give away guys like that who can blow a game open.

$12m in dead Parise and Suter cap space. He was the guy they could deal without having to pay for the privilege of doing so.

I wonder if they are waffling about having him stay up for the season.. otherwise what purpose does it serve for him to sit, and play Walker who has no future with the club (that I can see).
The problem I see with Clarke is he is real weak in the physical side of his position. He doesn't hit the opposing player. He looks like he is too timid in engaging a body check. He needs to improve in that area if he is to take the next step.

Stole, not really, as Faber and Yurov are two pretty good prospects, but Fiala is a rare talent. He can play with talented players...once he got on the #1PP with Kaprizov, and Zuccarello he did fine.

I think Fiala might have a personality that pisses some authority figures off. There have been rumors in MN that Guerin really didn't like him.

Agreed, players like Fiala should never be made available. The talent level is upper tier, Kings got lucky we had the assets and cap space. Don't think either of those assets will have an impact on the game at Kevin's level
though.

With the Parise/Suter buyouts they were forced into a situation where he couldn't have stayed there. Now they probably could have tried to trade 2 other guys and make it work but the hit defensively might've been too much, and then they'd have further issues next year anyways

I agree but that indicates to me that he should keep playing at the NHL level to develop that side of his game.

The pick from that trade was used to select Liam Ohgren. Yurov was their own pick later in the 1st.
Yes, but if you listened to the Wild room before the draft, they said that they valued Yurov higher, but thought that he would be around later because of the complications with Russian players. Ohgren is a good prospect, too, but if they only had one pick then they would've picked Yurov.

The best thing about tonight is they scored early and often, capitalizing on their chances. Rough ice time for the D tonight: 23, 21,19, 19, 16, 16. Edler and Walker, the lowest two, were the top two on the penalty kill. Doughty and Durzi, the two highest, had the most on the PP. Kopitar was the highest forward at 19:02, no forwards in single digits. Lots of easy PP minutes tonight, just great time management by the coaches.

Should be plenty fresh for tomorrow.

I get what you’re saying, and we did the same thing with the pick from the Muzzin trade, but you won’t find many folks saying it was Kaliyev in the return rather than Bjornfot.

you have to ice your best players. Someone else needs to sit so that Kupari is in the lineup.
The bigger question is which spot. If he's on line 4, I'd rather him get all situations NHL time, but otherwise you're looking at him replacing Byfield or one of Arvidsson/Grundstrom I guess

Similar to what the Kings did with Tobi/Kaliyev (without the Russian factor)
